AC should prioritize every single application from Porter. That wouldn’t be so funny…canadian_aviator_4 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2024 11:17 amLooks like porter will be receiving 6 pilots in the near future![]()

Re: Jazz or Porter?
There's more cuts to your Jazz paycheque than just the union dues. I've heard the LTD/STD - healtcare portion is painful. Granted, they get a decent benefits package for that price. I didn't mean jealous of the DEC or E2 crews, but moreso jealous of the attention the new operation was/has been rece...

Re: Jazz or Porter?
CDN is on point. Porter offer states base. No union dues or paycheque cuts that go with it, so you keep more at the end of the month. Q400 operation is stable and established with multiple bases. Bidding over in two years, you carry your seniority, or bid left on the Q, and continue to build your e...

Re: New hire bids
I’m a military pilot who is planning on jumping ship and heading to the USA (my wife is a citizen). I’ve got about ~3600TT, the majority of which is rotary wing time, although I'm currently assigned to a fixed wing platform. I hold all the TC/FAA licenses/certificates I am eligible to hold, but I’m...

Re: Jazz sim hiring process
Thanks for the answers it's very appreciated. Any Idea of the ride? Are you changing seat half point? They will let you fly from whatever seat you are most comfortable in. If your partner wants to fly from the same seat as you , then you would have to switch for the PM duties. The profile is the ba...

It’s a Dash 8 SIM, in a -100 or -300 configuration.
Either the way, the panel will basically be like this

Re: Sim eval
Jazz management : Read above post. Found a new way to save you guys a dime. We get you have a hate on for Jazz, but SIM evils are not being looked as a cost savings measure. Jazz is one of the only airlines that does them and it works well for screening out candidates that may st...
rookie has been issuing dire warnings about the economy since 2020, and so far none of them have come true. The prediction about $200 oil was made over a year ago, and it currently sits at $85. He's been probing corporate pilots to find out if business travel has died off as a sign of cutba...

Spirit stops hiring.

For those that think this hiring cycle will continue for ever, some of us have seen this movie before. Consider picking a seat that can weather a downturn.

Re: Negotiations
I voted NO to this agreement. This amount of pay increase (at the cost of working MORE!) will do nothing to retain or attract pilots with any experience. I am top payscale so I got 15% which is hardly a raise at all considering inflation. As mentioned above all the dirty tactics and meddling by Air...

Re: The "Yes" side will be full of regret
Lol...you think they can pay pilots less? What a joke Nope didn’t say that. However if the economy tanks and the company’s revenue and outlook weakens, it will be an uphill battle for any negotiating team to make the gains they want. Jazz basically said this on their last quarterly earnings c...

Re: The "Yes" side will be full of regret
This won't fix the retention issue, but it will make a huge difference to the first officers who are living on store brand instant ramen. Agreed, won’t fix the problem but in the meantime it will help a lot of pilots make ends meet. If the economy holds and the industry stays status quo or grows th...

Re: The "Yes" side will be full of regret
My post had a grammatical error but it still stands. You admitted in your very last post that it will "slow the bleeding". No sense arguing over it now. Enjoy your miniscule pay bump. Yeah 30% bump in take home pay is minuscule. This won't fix the retention issue, but it will make a huge difference...

Re: Negotiations
That's embarrassing. Yeah I am super embarrassed that my take home will go up close to 30% Looks like a case of looking out for yourself vs. looking out for the position and the profession. Yeah it's bad for the profession that everyone at Jazz will get a significant uplift in take home pay, along ...

Re: Negotiations
Please elaborate what all these ‘negative elements’ are. Did you read it? 5 are negative, helping the company not the pilots 1. Reduction of flow 2. Freezes 3. Increase in maximum credits 4. contract trainers 5. Loosing the 200’s early 1. That was in my survey, reduce or get rid of flow in exchange...

Re: The "Yes" side will be full of regret
PML had its day and proved to be unenforceable, just like flow. Jazz pilots will be much better off getting rid of flow from their contract and forcing to compete for pilots on salary and benefits alone. This will raise the bar for the entire pilot industry. Totally agree. Flow should be honoured f...

Regrets? Doubt it. My take home will go up 25-30% without any OT.
As other have said, this probably won’t fix the issue long term and if the regionals south of the border are any indication, they will be back with more before too long. In the meantime l’ll gladly take it.

Re: Negotiations
p.s. company paid LTD is now (effectively) reduced to 65% of pre-disability pay for a top scale CA and even lower for a top scale Training Pilot as the MOS did not mention updating the hard limit monthly LTD benefit amount. This hasn’t changed. There has always been a cap on LTD that was lower than...
