Re: TC ATPL -> FAA ATP issues/confusion on the part of the F
I had a similar issue with the FAA when I converted my TC ATPL to a FAA ATP. I contacted Rochester FSDO and followed FAA Advisory Circular 61-135 correctly. I ended up being stuck in Miami for work with all my paperwork, so I contacted the Miami FSDO and booked an appointment. When I tried to show u...

Re: Turbo Commander
Haha AC69 is a Turbo Commander. Fun machine, but not nearly as fun as the aforementioned mentioned 69.

Turbo Commander
I'm looking at my brand new AC69 Type Rating and I'm wondering if anyone knows why it requires a type rating in the first place.
It's a single pilot machine and it's not high performance because Vmo is 243 kias and Vso is 75 kias. Anyone know what the reason is?

Re: History details on Amigo Air ..?
Just did a float rating with Seaplane Academy. Randy puts on a really good course. My only complaint is that I couldn't fly more! Lots of fun Randy, hope to run into you again one of these days.

Re: EI vs CMA
This post was more to make light of CMA's attrocious payscale. I am not looking for a job with them nor am I on EI (although times are a changin'). I just find it ridiculous that the govenment offers more for temporary financial assistance than what CMA expects their employees to live off annually.

EI vs CMA
Does anyone know if CMA still starts their First Officers at $22,500/year? If so, I can make more by staying on EI then taking a job with them. Taken from: http://www1.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/ei/faq/faq_general.shtml#How How much can I receive? The basic benefit rate is 55% of your average insured e...

Molson Air?
Does anyone know the story behind these guys?
It seems a little risky going head to head with Fast Air out of Norway Hoose without a hangar. Especially when the Manitoba Medevac market is already pretty saturated with Perimeter, Fast Air, Skynorth and Missinippi.

Re: Missinippi Air Now Requires Training Bond
Missinippi has it's pro's and con's. The flying and the pay are good, however they are in need of some restructuring. There is a reason why out of close to twenty pilots, only two have stayed longer than a year...on anything, let alone a single plane. All this bond does is hurt the company further. ...

Re: North-Wright
Can anyone elaborate on the bond they have. My understanding is they keep a portion of your paycheck for the three year period and if you bugger off before then, they keep that chunk of change. I can't believe they don't give you any interest on money that you have earned and are rightfully entitled...

Funny how a company with good equipment and pay can slip under the radar.

I was wondering if anyone has information about Nakina Air Service. The job posting seems to paint a pretty nice picture, but I'm interested in some first hand advice. Feel free to PM.

Getting Paid for a Turnaround
This evening, a coworker and my employer got in a fairly heated debate about the subject of being paid for turning around due to inclement weather. We get paid by mileage and the boss's policy is if you have to turn around, you don't get paid. He then made the comment that this is industry standard ...

Private Rental Aircraft
Hi there, I'm currently working on the ramp in Calgary and I'm wanting to do some flying to keep current and build some PIC time. The only problem is I pay out the ass for it at all the flight schools and I have to be back in the two or four hour period. I'm curious if anybody has any information on...

Take-off Minima
So here's the question of the day. I work ramp in YYC and during our coffee breaks, a variety of aviation related topics are discussed. Since the weather was pretty crummy today, the topic of Take-off Minima came up and the general debate was whether or not the PIC can overrule a ground visibility o...
