That is accurate in regards to my total time (3400 hrs) but the guy that interviewed ahead of me had 250 hrs total and was a graduate of Mount Royal in 2008!

Do you have an instructor rating? Southern Interior Flight Centre (Carson Air) is fair sized flight school you could pursue... Toll free phone number 1-800-765-7779 extension 1 for the flight school. Marc Vanderaegan is the CFI. As well, Carson Air holds the BC medevac contract out of Kelowna and op...

No, no, no. The mess we're in is CLINTON'S fault. He's the one who passed the law that said "NO ONE can be refused a mortgage" irregardless of income and beacon score. So... every one and their dog went and bought a house. Short term - it made Clinton look like a superstar! Long term... a big mess t...

I don't think your age is a negative factor in this. Most of the "mature" students (30 years old +) that I graduated with, from an aviation diploma program, are doing the best in their careers. If I owned a flightschool, I would want someone with some life experience and someone who is safety minded...

Re: Where to Find Aircraft Posters
I took a Boeing 777 poster and framed it myself. I bought glass and hanging hardware and painted the frame black - it looks real classy and I've been asked to make a few for other friends for gifts. If you're handy in the wood shop and have some spare time (2 hours), it'll work out nice. Total cost ...

Re: Write a letter to make a change.
Another reason for fatigue during "on duty" times may be a result of insufficient time sleeping during days off. Entering a tour with 4 hours of sleep deficit (perhaps working too hard renovating the house...) is our own mistake - not our employers/ regulators. Just a thought.

Nice work Daveg. You're cool. :prayer: Actually down3green, it seems like the industry at this point is solid although the hiring spree from Air Canada and AC Jazz has come to a screeching halt. As for Westjet and Canadian North, they're still scooping a few guys and charter operators are doing the ...

Re: Discontinuing the V.H.F D.F service
Used it in demonstrations for students on cross country flights. It gave them reassurance that they could be found even if they were below radar altitudes. Kinda nice to have a "backup" system when the radar goes down too. I'm not crunching numbers for Nav Canada and have no idea the cost of upkeep ...

Hey twinpratts, Just wondering if there are Transport Canada approved programs for 705 ops allowing one crew member to sleep while the other is awake? I've heard that one of our major carriers here in Canada has provisions for crew rest on the flight deck provided there is wakefulness 30 minutes pri...

Good point! Like you, I feel spoiled to be in this industry and further spoiled to be working for my current employer. In fact, I've had two other employers prior to this one - I was spoiled from day one. For the record, day one for me was scheduling 50 students to 15 instructors to 9 airplanes and ...

Instructor Refresher Courses
My class 1 instructor rating expires April 1st this year. Wondering if TC still does "Instructor Refresher Courses"? I've been out of the instructor scene for a few years - apologies if this has already been asked in the past little while.
