Re: 1236 TT
Bit of a tough time to start a job search, but you certainly never know when you might get lucky. I'm not really in the job hunt myself, so I'm speculating a bit. I would imagine medevac operators in Alberta/Manitoba are constantly looking for guys to continue government contracts year round for the...

Re: Low Timer, not complaining
Good luck to you, Even though you don't have the credentials yet right now I would still send out some resumes, make some follow up calls so the next time you send them out and make follow ups someone might remember you. That might be the only difference between getting a call or not. Years ago I us...

Re: Charter vs. Instructor Time
I made that exact move several years ago. The 206 moved me into a Navajo then a king air and finally into a citation before i made the move to an airline. I don't see any thing wrong with instructing but i will admit i learned a lot more about my own flying skills in the bush. Good luck! Pm me if yo...

Re: Single pilot IFR
Single pilot IFR is getting tougher and tougher for companies to in the 703 world to sell. I spent a few years flying a navajo SPIFR. At the beginning it was all charter work for a number of companies but gradually less and less of those companies own insurance requirements allowed for first off, si...

Re: Polar Flights
the 777 300ER switches from magnetic to true to grid close to the pole on the primary nav display but when we fly over the pole all the way points are in the FMS. There are routes that we follow depending on the day and the winds. A few months ago going JKF to HKG we went straight north then more no...

Re: Sunwing Seasonal Pilots
Just look at the US aviation industry.... what a mess,
Thats where us Canadians are heading, paying for type ratings and and begging for jobs just to hurry up and jump ship to Westjet or AC mainline.
The problem is what can really be done?

I tend to agree, sporting.
The problem is that the "hail Mary" is unfortunately going to be what I think the union is going to be pushing. Sometimes I get the feeling rather than realistic options and goals. More more more is what the unions"

Re: Qatar requirements
As far as I know Qatar wants guys with ICAO atpl's.... When converting to a foreign license there are always conversion terms depending on which ICAO country the license is from. The Qatar aviation governing body will make the final decision on the conversion terms, they may hold a JAA frozen atpl i...

Re: Your Thoughts on The Pilot Shortage
I am one of those guys that picked up and moved to the other side of the world. I have a lot of experience in Canadian aviation but there just wasn't really anywhere for me to go in Canadian aviation. Bit of a catch 22 wouldn't you say? It's tough with a family to go from a solid 703/704 operator ma...
