Re: KF or HeavyAero for apprenticeship
Kudos to you for wanting to be more rounded as an AME. I don't know anything about Heavyaero - except that its a lot of Airlines. Flightcraft I have worked with and they do heavy airline but also have the Convairs (and soon ATR's) doing line stuff. I would think you would learn more there. One of th...

Re: Any planned hiring this year?
DP dropped by our latest class grad and was socializing with us when one asked about a rumor of 20 Dreamliners coming....to which he stated Whoa whoa....its not 20 its more like 10. He said that an announcement could be made in the fall on that. Take that as you want. Boeing wants to increase 787 p...

Re: Any planned hiring this year?
I’m sure someone can provide the exact number, but I think even the best year I’ve seen (in 10 years here) was around 80 upgrades. So with 1000 FOs it’s not hard to do the math to know what to expect. Especially with the widebody ‘trial’ looking like it won’t be grown anymore. Add into that the AR ...

Re: YYZ RJ landing Accident
I’m also curious what the certification standard is for the aircraft’s gear. From the report: "The MLG shock struts on this aircraft are designed to absorb the energy of a 720 fpm (12 fps) descent velocity at the maximum landing weight." The FAA certification standard is 10fps. When doing a search ...

Re: Buying a N registered plane and importing?
Can an import be a nightmare - yes it could be.....most are not. 337's are not really as big a deal as some make it out to be. 95% of them can and will be approved by a DAR as is. If they really don't like something - you can get an LSTC fairly easily. The plane will need an annual inspection and a ...

Re: Jeju Air
Can anyone who actually has experience in the later series 737s, speak to the design and operation of the electrical and hydraulic systems in the event of a dual engine failure. Assuming both engines are damaged/failing/failed after a birdstrike, how long are you going to maintain electrical power ...

Re: Jeju Air
The right TR appears to be unlocked the left one not so, one video looks like there is smoke coming from the right engine but nothing from the left. It has been suggested that the bird strike was on the right engine, but that possibly the crew shut down the wrong engine leading to the total loss of...

Not good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfHxKpVr100 I was just about to post the same video. Brutal and very hard to watch. Are those TR’s deployed? Looks like it to me… can one override the wow on a -800 or any Boeing product in order to even do so? TPC I can't tell if the RH side is actually de...

And finally the LH gear. For everyone wondering about air/ground switches. The switches in the 767 are internal to the tilt actuators. You can see the cannon plug here and both it and the wiring appear intact. If it was an air/ground issue....I don't think it's because of this (from the previous tax...

PDW…. YOUR BACK!!!!’😂k He blows in with the wind! IMO this is a made-easier opportunity to see math of lighter shear affecting stability more with this type (10-15kts faster IAS than normal) approach, the mild back and forth (lighter/seesaw) shearing experienced across this landing area during a ‘p...

Yo, I just did my research, GSE tech makes more money than you people! The fact is, they are actually paying more to maintain the plane than the tug, but this money will have to be broken up to pay many people that makes up the bigger crew! Google it! Who would do this job if you could do the easy ...

Re: Flair still searching for capital infusion
There is also the very real possibility that - due to 777's bankruptcy - that they may, at some point, end up having to liquidate their assets. They own some of the 737's Flair is leasing......so If they end up selling those off - there is a real chance Flair will loose them - forcing them to shrink...

Q: So at which location in this situation on this runway is too late for safe go around ? … right away ? .. before halfway ? .. From the chart I'm looking at with good reported braking action and depending on configuration/weight - they needed around 6500' (8900' runway) or more to stop (assuming r...

Re: Nolinor B734 Nov 27th 2024, one main gear up landing
I only know the NG... but isn't it the same on the Classics? B system for flaps, A system for gear? Did they get a manual reversion (total hydraulic failure)? Flaps run on B system. They can be lowered electrically if the B system fails. I doubt it was a hyd failure. They have what looks like flaps...

Re: Cargojet slide off the end of 08L at YVR
The recording said leading edge flaps trouble. Could this have affected spoilers/speedbrake deployment? No, but an air/ground logic issue which someone mentioned, definitely would. If the system erroneously considered the aircraft airborne you'd have no ground spoilers, greatly increasing ground ro...

Re: Cargojet slide off the end of 08L at YVR
I also heard that one reverser was MEL'd and they didn't have speedbrakes on landing, either failed to deploy, weren't manually selected, or just didn't work. If they had an inop reverser as well, things are starting to add up. How easy is it to go to Seattle on 23000 pounds of fuel with a restrict...

All good ideas - but I have seen my fair share of pilots taking off even multiple legs with different crews with open items in the logbook. There is no fool proof system
