Re: Westjet 737 Gear collapse in SXM today
Cargojet? Doesn't WJ have their own fleet of 737 freighter? No. That ended a while ago. Not true. I'm flying a BCF pairing right now. Ok sorry. Technically yes we have a freighter....but I hardly call an openly cancelled (radically changed) program and 1 plane a "fleet" of freighters.

A Cargojet 757 just dropped off the first of what they need. They have started repairs and are guessing about 10 weeks or so.goldeneagle wrote: ↑Wed Sep 17, 2025 7:53 am So has it been determined yet the fate of the airframe ? Is a crew down there fixing it, or is it headed to the pop can factory ?

Re: New YYC Sim facility with CAE
The 737 did operate ycd, you are correct. And it was a disaster, load restricted, could only land going one direction, tailwind limited, every pilot i spoke to about it hated it, i deadheaded in there afew times in the jet and every landing was a slam, because the runway is not long. ...and yet - s...

Re: Flight Attendant strike vote opens on July 28th
I will predict the corp gets very verdictive in Arbitration, no point in mediation as they are miles apart. Whatever the FA's get, so will the rampies and agents. The economic climate has drastically changed since CUPE started bargaining, if we're not in a recession we are awfully close. I highly d...

Non of the maxes are even close to being on the chopping block. All the 700's are leaving and the 800's will slowly be phased out over the coming years. We'll probably still have a bunch in 2030 so they will be around in numbers for a while yet. I believe we will eventually exercise all options........

So - I'm confused....was there actually a back to work order? There was an order for binding arbitration - but that is a separate thing.

Re: Glad we're doing our part during this labor crisis....
I bet management is watching this closely. Our FA's contract is up in Dec and they have not started negotiations for their contract yet as they are awaiting the outcome of the AC one. If past experience with the other 3 groups is any indication - I feel we are next for another strike in the spring. ...

Re: Dreamliner Down in India
So by your reasoning the FDR can’t tell what position any switch is in, only the result down stream based on the current in the circuit? No. That isn’t how it works. I was wrong then. Thought it was obvious when the circuit comes alive the FDR captures it as RUN and also when it is CUTOFF, whether ...

Re: Dreamliner Down in India
If the core got abruptly colder/slower the EEC would sense relight in order and automation then cuts fuel for the ventilation process preceding ignition/RUN. Sounds to me like no pilot switching is therefore required for that; being the same circuit the FDR would then have to be capturing this as t...

Re: Stolen/Hijack Victoria Flying Club 172 lands in YVR
There was only person onboard. The hijacking news is fake. I dont know how or why you would say that when you clearly don't know what happened. The guy was with a flight instructor....they taxied out to the end of the runway and when they reached the hold short line - the guy pulled a knife and thr...

Re: WestJet passengers evacuate on slides after engine fire at Vancouver airport
Stupid really.
The yard apes probably panicked..... jumping up and down probably told the captain his engine was on fire, so he blows the bottles and pops the slides. A little residual oil in the tailpipe burned for a few secs and now the plane is out of service for days.

Re: Dreamliner Down in India
Boeing, GE, and Air India all knew what happened the moment it happened. All this data is telemetry - it's constantly being transmitted. I can pull up any one of our 787's right now and tell you exactly what state it's in. Every flight control, pressure, temp, flow, switch, etc.... They probably kne...

Re: AME won’t sign my log book need some advice on what to do next.
Hello, I have been working as an AME M apprentice for about 4 years working towards getting my M1. I finished close to 70% of tasks and decided to ask the chief AME to look at it for signatures. I got about 50-60% of applicable tasks signed but he refused to sign the rest because he wants me to do ...

Kudos to you for wanting to be more rounded as an AME. I don't know anything about Heavyaero - except that its a lot of Airlines. Re: Any planned hiring this year?
I’m sure someone can provide the exact number, but I think even the best year I’ve seen (in 10 years here) was around 80 upgrades. So with 1000 FOs it’s not hard to do the math to know what to expect. Especially with the widebody ‘trial’ looking like it won’t be grown anymore. Add into that the AR ...

Re: YYZ RJ landing Accident
I’m also curious what the certification standard is for the aircraft’s gear. From the report: "The MLG shock struts on this aircraft are designed to absorb the energy of a 720 fpm (12 fps) descent velocity at the maximum landing weight." The FAA certification standard is 10fps. When doing a search ...
