What would the wait be for YOW on the E2?

In the August class we had 15 FOs. Three or four were instructors with 1000ish hours. The rest had multi-crew, 703/4/5 experience. Average experience was about 1400. October class I'm told were cadets from the Jazz Cygnet program. No clue what the current hiring looks like.

Probably not a takeoff weight restriction. Max landing weight is more likely the issue when taking extra fuel for weather/delays. If you are not delayed you end up too heavy to land.

The last class must have been an anomaly because almost all of them will be eligible for upgrade within a year. 3-4 ATPLs and most of the others were 1000+ with 703/704 time. I think 3 or 4 only had instructor time.

Base transfer timelines seem quite variable. Everyone on the jets seem to get their desired base within a few months but the Q400 queue from West to East seems like 1 year+. In the last class, 6 of 7 new hires that got YVR/Q400 were looking for Eastern bases. I wonder if they are shooting themselves...

I would avoid making decisions based on "I have a colleague" or "I know someone" stories. There are exceptions to every rule and you never really know what happened. Your colleague may be a great pilot but perform poorly in interviews. Or they may be aiming too high and not willing to take a lowly F...

Does Jazz prefer candidates not have real world experience? Doesn’t seem plausible to hire candidates with only instructing experience instead of candidates who are training Captains in 703 ops. Jazz may prefer high time candidates but like all regionals they are having problems finding them. Right...

If you were successful they will either:
1. Offer you a ground school date, or
2. Let you know you are in a pool.

Pretty sure Aug 6th was filled weeks ago. I got my offer June 20th.

Likely depends on when they are running the next ground school. Expect to see offers ~6 weeks before the course. A friend was told Oct/Nov during his interview but who really knows.

From my experience the Porter Q400 application is slow and the communications infrequent. I applied in late November, got my first communication in late January and an interview in mid-February.
