Re: How long til $100k?
I would have to agree that being a pilot is less mentally taxing than being an engineer. I was formerly a software engineer and am now a major airline pilot and I find that flying is easier and requires less creativity and problem solving compared to engineering. Most flights are variations of the ...

Re: What's the over and under pilots can focus on contract negotiations
So, would anyone care to postulate, is scope on the table at all in the current talks? obviously North American scope clauses currently prohibit small jets greater than 76 seats, but according to bargaining 101: shoot for the moon and settle somewhere in between, would this not be a good angle for ...

Re: 787-10 order
I'm glad we don't have to fight over 777F wages now. The 787-10 has significantly less range than the 777's so I don't know if it will replace them. Are they filling them? Many airplanes have reduced traffic so are looking to reduce the capacity as well. In the good times the 787 would have replace...

Re: Air Canada vs WestJet
Your friend needs to look at 1 fact and take 2 seconds to make their decision. In recent years, how many Westjet pilots have left for AC??? Hundreds or more. How many AC pilots have left for Westjet? Zero There is a reason for this. I don’t think the number is Zero, a bunch just left according to t...

Re: Denying Overtime
There are actually a handful of pilots that commute from the US. The switch over for them would be the easiest, however after 10-15 years at the company a lot of people can’t just walk away from seniority and start all over again.

Re: 312 flights cancelled in the last 4 days.
Mr JBI is right. That will shrink Jazz and give more flying to PAL. That will help Chorus leave the CPA as they are transitioning into a leasing company mainly. Or …. just conjecture here … maybe AC wanted out of the CPA and when Chorus/Jazz couldn’t fulfill their contractual obligations, they saw ...

Re: Toronto base wins the PRIZE!
Expect to be annihilated during negotiations, this group isn’t worthy or capable of achieving any real gains.
Heck we should have just joined CUPE and merged the list with them, at least the per diems would’ve been better.

Re: Toronto base wins the PRIZE!
Who could have imagined that this would happen? WHO? Pilots "undermining the collective efforts of other pilots for over 20 years". Great new slogan, maybe a bag sticker. Pretty good show though! Only a month ago........WE'RE GOING TO SHOW YOU A THING OR TWO! WE'RE ALPA NOW, WE'RE SERIOUS! Right. T...

Re: Toronto base wins the PRIZE!
Way to got TO! You win the prize that comes with the "highest percentage of those listed to do voluntary work" outside your contractual obligations! You're SLAYING IT! Keep it up, you might win the CUP at this rate! An actual cup in TO, crazy times eh? Albeit the wrong one......but I digress. The c...

Re: Toronto base wins the PRIZE!
The hypocrisy is real, I’ve flown with some of these guys listed for VO. All complaining about our contract is shit, we need at least 30%. And they’re all lining up, as if 80-85 block hours isn’t enough. It’s simply greed from the Captains lining up. If we can’t unite now, expect a substandard cost ...

Re: Air Canada Pilots Pull Out
Sounds like the pilots are pulling out? Does that mean there is a strike soon? I was looking at booking a flight for this summer, maybe I should book thru someone else? ... This summer, travel will be unaffected, but maybe if the current contract ends in September, ALPA can use the Christmas travel...

Re: Air Canada Pilots Pull Out
ACPA Worst. Representation. Ever. Let’s not forget a lot of is up to the members. Even today some can’t seem to read between the lines of the MEC Chairs message. Changing the placard on the door to ALPA won’t help much if the members can’t collectively unite with a strong message to the company.

Re: Our turn to strike ?
The right to strike was signed away in the 2019 MOS U guys r missing the point. Why do WE have to follow the contract when it is not being followed on the other side... the way i see it, it s a breach of contract so.... Unfortunately, given their stubbornness at AC, things are going to have to get ...

Don't worry....I'll be up at my cottage in Muskoka, I won't spend a minute worrying about the train wreck that's about to occur. Has it ever occurred to you to evaluate why you believe the Air Canada pilots are incapable of acting like a real union. To do so will be a train wreck. Yes 2012 was a tr...

Re: Wide body with no former jet-time
F**k 4 years of flat pay, no legacy carrier in North America has that. It use to be 2 years let’s get that back. It should have been part of the 10 year contract, but too bad 86% were too blinded by the $10k signing bonus. I agree but they have no reason to get rid of flat pay. They could have 6 ye...
