Re: What will Air Canada pilots do with their $0 bonus?
We've beaten this to death before... I'll take guaranteed salary over profit share every day. Any time I can convert a capped variable payment - a payment that is dependent on what is the least frequently profitable industry in the world profiting, from a company with a background of baggage, misma...

Re: What will Air Canada pilots do with their $0 bonus?
Sure, laughing stocks for getting 42% raises. Name another Canadian carrier that walked away with such a percentage. See what the FA got handed in arbitration. They really showed the company. Yet I still make less as a AC CA than the 737 FO I met from Delta a few weeks ago. Flight Attendants are re...

Re: What will Air Canada pilots do with their $0 bonus?
I emailed the union and the response was that this year’s results would not have lead to a max payout. In order to achieve that the EBITDA margin would have needed to reach 16.5%. At a 14% margin, we would have received a payout percentage of 1.24% which, based on the assumed payroll numbers and fo...

Re: What will Air Canada pilots do with their $0 bonus?
There are a few structural realities being overlooked here. WestJet pilots have historically enjoyed better QOL for a very simple reason. For most of its existence they could not match Air Canada pay rates. They didn't even have a pension! QOL was essential for recruitment and retention. Socialized...

Re: Flight Attendant strike vote opens on July 28th
For the crowd shedding tears for the FA's, you likely were not around for all the years of Service Directors bragging about earning more than the First Officer. Or the painful years of "Me Too" clauses where the corp repeatedly told the Pilots; "whatever we give you, we have to give to all the othe...

Re: What will Air Canada pilots do with their $0 bonus?
So looks like we would have gotten profit sharing AGAIN this year if we didn't give it away? https://www.tipranks.com/news/company-announcements/air-canada-posts-record-2025-revenues-and-maps-cautious-growth-for-2026 Yup... 2 Years of max payout for the pilot group given away...to get WJ plus 2% pa...

I still can't get over junior Air Transat pilots concerned over the shit Quality of Life at AC. How did the MEC at Air Canada present such a shit contract that it has come to this?! Presented? Have you been under a rock? The contract was ratified over a year ago. Lol...so what was the first step af...

Re: Anyone have any clue what the proposed SALARY SCALE LOOKS LIKE WITH THE NEW TA?
AC pilots’ contract expires next year. Hopefully we see new Reps for the next round, not the same weak yes voters. I would not be surprised if, with the same Reps, they agree to gains that do not even beat leisure or discount carriers, especially out of YUL. They would be scared to fight a wet pool...

Re: Anyone have any clue what the proposed SALARY SCALE LOOKS LIKE WITH THE NEW TA?
No need to apologize, most of us here have friends or family at AC, so we know what it is, and who the ones throwing tempertantrums are. Unfortnately they don't realize the toxicity they spew doesn't help them in any regard. End of the day, we are all family in the aviation world, and I know for a ...

Re: Poll: What is the most embarrassing aspect of the Air Canada pilot contract?
Question is how many guys at AC would trade pay for QOL? Can't underestimate the grip of money... it takes hold of everyone, and then it's never enough. You could predict perpetually trading away every last lifestyle aspect for a few extra bucks. Happens in every group in every industry. It's fasci...

Insult insult blah blah blah insult insult toss more shit. What is your defect dude? Did nobody love you as a child? The fact is there is a monthly MBG that is variable based on DBM for both block holders and reserve pilots. I detailed it earlier which you ignored. I provided the relevant article r...

Re: The TA
Air Canada pilots don't have a monthly guarantee.... Oh I guess the flat payers get it. We give the worst new hire pay in the industry a 75 hrs guarantee. Sounds so very Air Canada like... Just another one of those "we will get'em next time"...."just need xyz airline to get because we need to pAtTeR...

Re: The TA
Monthly MBG at Air Canada is DBM dependent and between 60 and 72 hours for block holders, between 68 and 82 hours for reserve pilots. First two pay steps FO/RP are guaranteed higher of above or 75 hours. Depending on fleet, pilots are also guaranteed overseas and nav pay. 71 hours on WBs, 10 hours ...

Re: The TA
In practice that's not how it works. Like 3rdworldclasspilot said it is not a monthly guarantee. You are correct that's it's a 900hr annual guarantee. However, it gets paid out as a single lump sum "top up" basically whenever the company feels like it. This past year it was several months delayed f...

Re: The TA
What planet are you living on? The starting pay is basically the same as AC... or what... just a couple thousand more. And other posters here have said that take home is several % points less than AC. I dont know the exact figures on that, but it seems like the starting pay will fall short of AC if...

Re: The TA
Im eagerly awaiting road shows. Leaning on a Yes because there is some good stuff here. Pay could be better but at least starting pay isn't as bad as Air Canada. Definitely happy I've decided to stick it out compared to what the Air Canada pilots were able to negotiate. Must be terrible with those ...

Re: So when is Peak Leverage?!
My Transat friends, whatever you do, please do not settle for a "vendor-dependant" contract. Not sure what a “vendor dependant” contract means. I too hope for a successful outcome for the TS pilots, but I don’t see a whole lot of leverage . TRZ is not a financially healthy enterprise. Cash flow pro...

Re: Strike outcome desires
Its hilarious to see all the AC dissident posters pile in here to give their "expert" advice on late stage bargaining. Like they have a clue. Transat pilots will do whats best for them given the circumstances at hand. And those circumstances by the way, are entirely different from those faced by AC...

ALPA hasn't strike in how long? Honest question...30 years?? And how many contracts since then.
Same old tired playbook. Yawn.

Re: Emirates after AC
I dont think anyone is going to disagree AC pilots can't negotiate jack sheet. A 10 yrs deal to 4 years tragic flat pay then somehow a World Class Contract meant pissing away a bonus with world worst reserve and productivity... And can't even implement their comical work rules gains. It's insane rea...

Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?
As I said earlier the 17 year deal has been debated ad nauseum. Bringing it up here again is pointless. What is problematic is when you say that “if the company wants to run the operation into the ground that’s on them”. There are almost 300 pilots at Jazz currently enrolled and contributing to a d...

Re: Emirates after AC
So, if my memory is correct, you are currently an instructor who knows someone in the “sandbox”? Why are you trying to convince AC pilots it’s a great place, I don’t get it! Are you wanting more competition for the jobs over there or trying to get them to go so there is more openings at AC for you?...
