Re: The Next Gear Up Landing

It is simple just put the bloody gear down! Distraction or not if your landing you need to put the gear down. I think anyone that thinks that this accidents just happens and that it can possibly be said hey this is okay we only forgot the gear. Is out to lunch....You can't forget the gear it ain't a...

Re: B1900 SOP's

The book says nothing. It is a single pilot airplane in the states and if you operate it 2 crew it is not going to spell out how your SOP should be written. All it will tell you is the profile.

The manufacture is not gonna give a hoot who is doing the power.

Re: Beaver Tips

All excellent tips again BeaverBob. Thanks! As for the 1 Mags and Carb Heat Hot...you are lowering your RPM so that you can approach the dock slower if that helps. And for you guys pumping the Throttle during start maybe you guys should carry a fire guard on the float. ;) I am going to leave the dow...

Re: Beaver Tips

I guess what I am trying to say about this advice about turns from down wind is how does this apply as a Beaver tip? If we all agree that an airplane Stalls the same...well minus the few people who seem to think differently in th earlier posts from what I recollect. This tip about "illusions" is no ...

Re: Beaver Tips

Yeah the Beaver is lots of fun. I haven't flown it as much as I would like....but that is all good. Gotta working on my step taxing and docking. Partly due to the fact that it has been a few years since I flew floats on a regular basis and due to the unfamiliarity. What I really need to do is just t...

Just as a side note ya never did tell me how ya made out on that trip.

That and I did tell ya that stuff, and yes I would have been available to fly a Beech 18.

Can we get back to Beaver flying tips again. If there are any still out there. The 985 stuff was also good refresher. My only time with them are on 18s.

Re: Beaver Tips

I don`t think anyone said there is no effect on performance. I think what people are saying is the wing performs the same regardless at what speed it is travelling over the ground. I think of performance as relative to the ground, T/O, Landing, Cruise, Climb, etc...what a pilot has to do to either i...

I have been on the road for a few days with no access to a computer. I was wondering what kinda of responses I would get from this board. It sounds like a number of you are Beaver pros, so thanks you for all the tips and keep them coming if ya think of anymore. They are Greatly appreaciated. I like ...

Just started flying one as a part time gig. From my regular flying job. But have never flown one before.

Looking for some tips.

Anything would be good. Esspeacially with regards to T/O technique and flap settings, and flying her with a load.

So they where there for year, and everyone new they where there.

Maybe the guy flying it should have missed the pole. I mean that is all part of the game isn't it.

Well glad no one was hurt.

Re: Approach Ban Poll

What I don't get is why don't we just follow the approach limits on the chart. They seem to not really mean anything, except to use them for the approach ban figures. Why even have recommended visibilties if they don't mean anything. Well I guess I'll be doing more contact approaches. :rolley...

Unfortunately I am use to it.

It would however have been nice to get this landing limit thing more in line with the rest of the world of aviation. Another wasted oppritunity by Transport.

Re: Approach Ban Poll

ETTW - you say "that no one has been killed."

I don't know that it really has made a difference in safety. I am sure there has been approach to landing accidents since it has been implemented...that and how is it safer when you are conducting approaches in the far North, where it doesn't apply?

Sometimes workers owe employers

Sometimes workers owe employers Ed Canning The Hamilton Spectator (Dec 29, 2008) We usually think about the employment relationship as one in which the employer owes money to the employee: the employee renders the service, the employer then pays for it. There are a number of situations, however, in ...
