Re: Question for Maintenance Contractors - Workers Comp?
I was checking the other day and I think it is based on total revenues, in Alberta it appears to be $1.19 per $100 of revenue. Hope that helps.

Re: Air Partners
So if they are offering 40K to 45K what did you counter with? As in any business you never start with the number you are willing to settle at, if someone is willing to take the job for 40K why would you offer 50K to start? Pretty basic negotiating I would think.

Re: Air Partners
15 years ago I considered becoming a pilot, decided to turn wrenches instead, have recently thought about moving to the pointy end, this post made me realize I am not nearly bitter enough for that. $40k for the right seat to start with next to no experience is a place to start, I am guessing that is...

Re: Really?
Kamloops is a wonderful place to live and a nice little airport. The "Shortage of Flight Instructors" is true, but is really about them not having instructors working for them not a shortage in the industry. There is much more to the closing of this flying school.

Re: AMS (Aircraft Maintenance Systems) Tracking Software
I am just in the process of getting it up and running in our operation and have not found any huge bugs yet, we did have a little bit of trouble getting it on the network as they had a little different idea of how it should work than my IT guy did but they changed things up to getting it to work the...

Re: Quiting after getting an endorsement.
So, the first question is did they have you sign a training bond or give a verbal agreement to stay for a certain period? Could you get a job else where with out the endorsment or is that your ticket to advancement? Is the company hiring you going to be willing to pay out your training bond? I guess...

I spoke with the FSDO office in Helena and if you have an AME license in good standing, you present a letter of good standing from T/C a resume outlining your work experience and they give you an authorization to write the A&P exams. Total I was told to allow for 3 days, 1 day to get approval, one f...

If it's got wings “It will be great if the industry standard goes up, then we can all go and fight over the hand full of $75 dollar an hour jobs, when most AMO's shut down because no one can afford to pay us on the amount of business that is available.” I call bullshit on that!! If gas went up to $...

The industry standard is: What you accept. The people who decide what your pay will be, is decided by someone with no technical back ground who spoke to a buddy with no technical back ground and they agreed to pay that rate over some beers last summer. The more people that refuse to work for the cr...

I think there is not necessarly a shortage of engineers, but quality engineers who are worth what they are asking are few and far between. We've had more than our share of engineers who I had to remind how to time a magneto and explain how a free turbine works, these guys were not green engineers, a...

Defect entry in the logbook by the AME
Anyone know what the TC enforcement action is if you don't enter defects you've found in the log book at the owners request? Want to be able point it out for a pushy owner who really doesn't want to fix anything.
