Re: Question about CYOO RNAV RWY 12 minima

I'm not sure about this particular example, without knowing the approach design criteria, but it often has to do with where the missed approach segment begins. Often the case with an LNAV/VNAV is that the constant descent slope intersects with a decision altitude that is prior to the missed approach...

Re: One-man train crews banned

Interesting insight, boxcar, but would something like a chock be a reasonable device to employ additionally? A metal block that sit on top of the rail against the wheel of the downhill car along with a strut that protrudes down to the sleeper or other part of the rail keeper...if it is never allowed...

Re: Did you get your galley cart?

CRA is looking at everything...from hotel points, to bringing your kids on a maintenance flight. It's all a 'benefit' and easy money. Big companies don't want to fall into issues with CRA so they willingly provide the data. Pretty soon, if you work in a bakery and get to take home all the day-olds t...

My Dad took us there as kids to watch planes, probably a big reason why I do what I do now. No pics, but would be great to see some.

Re: Alleged violation question

I had something similar happen to me with regard to timing and publication years ago. Wx was up and down, got in on an ILS, but then couldn't leave as we were a bit short on the half mile vis for departure, so we waited and waited...checking the PATWAS every five minutes on the pay phone in the term...

Re: Buttonville Tower/Ground Crew/Instructors Shout Out

They've been quite good about tours there too....just drive in to the base of the tower as if you're heading for skyservice and call from the phone/intercom at the gate, work load permitting of course. I would go in the morning or late evening.

Re: Does anyone live in the Beamsville/Grimsby area?

Grimsby is right next door to Stoney Creek and I would live in either location; there is great bang for the real estate dollar, lots of highways to choose from if you're trying to get to YYZ...good programs for pre-school kids in the area, lots of schools to choose from otherwise and mostly without ...

Re: Ornge moving YTZ ops to YHM

Perhaps someone should point out to Lewenza and **** that those orange Ornge helicopters they've all seen flying overhead don't just pick up patients and bring them back to the hangar where they are based at and also, as far as I can tell, Toronto Island (airport or otherwise) doesn't have a hospita...

Re: Help Calculating True Heading

A simple way is Wind Velocity/True Airspeed x 60. This would give you a maximum drift correction angle assuming a 90 degree crosswind. If the wind angle meets your track at less than 90 degrees, then apply a Sine ratio to that angle (enter the angle then press SIN on a calculator). Or , you can reso...

Re: Help Calculating True Heading

Are you talking about Sine and Cosine ratios? Soh Cah Toa? Right angle triangle, the Sine function of the angle the wind makes with your track equals the magnitude of the opposite side of the triangle over the adjacent? You would have been forced to learn this somewhere prior to being allowed to use...

If you're picking up US per diems in USD then TD Canada Trust US Dollar Advantage Visa works well. It doesn't cost anything and you don't mess around with exchange rates (potentially losing money)...just pay the bill in USD per diem cheques. Who says it's about time? Time has very little to do with the selection process in many places these days. Unless you're looking at entry level for insurance purposes or hiring a direct entry captain only bare minimums (i.e. CPL) are necessary for consideration.

Hmmm...obviously a very scientific study, with a 15% band. Is this true of all companies? At AC for example, females are only around 3% or less...lower than the national average...where are these companies!?! I like flying with chicks!!!

Here's another one: Usually at YYZ it's 'monitor Tower, 18.7', but even when the instruction is 'contact tower 18.7' (when coming from ground at the hold line), you just don't. Or at least I think I know better than to tell a YYZ tower controller who/where I am after seeing many a Caravan driver in ...
