Botswana and Namibia?

Hey Guys, What do you know about Sefofane in southern Africa? I heard a pilot mention that outfits name when I was at an FBO in YVR a few days ago. Unfortunately, I never had the chance to talk to him regarding his experience because I had to leave. They have a pretty descriptive website, but it's s...

Absolutely not. It's legal and it is honest.

Re: M/IFR dual credit

Thanks for the response. I didn't think that there would be a problem. I just thought I'd ask because I have an opportunity to get a multi done on a Navajo from a guy with a few hundred hours on type. I think that it would be way better than doing it at a FTU for $300/hr. Plus on the Ho I'd literall...

Re: M/IFR dual credit

So you can teach a regular multi rating to someone as long as you have a CPL and over 500PIC and 10 on type? And you don't need an instructor rating? Then as far as recommending your student for the flight test... is it the same drill as if it was done at a FTU? Has anyone here done it this way yet ...

Re: Commercial Transport Canada Written Exam Tips??!

hey wxnut, sorry "2007" was meant to be 2007 . it wouldn't let me post it with the "" spelling. FTGU is okay. i barely used it in my ppl and cpl. what i would do is study certain areas. as previously mentioned in the thread, click on the link from one of the above posts that'll lead you to TC's webs...

Re: Commercial Transport Canada Written Exam Tips??!

Wrote the CPL exam about a month ago and all I did was self study. Didn't bother with the schools own ground school because all they did was show a bunch of power points.

Plus I needed to get it done quick so I used the 2007 and the Canadian Commercial Answer Guide. Both were more than enough.

Hey what have you guys heard about Sander Geo out of Ottawa? What kind of hours are they looking at? Checked out there website and it didn't list an hours requirement for fixed-wing. Looks like an interesting global operation. Saw they have a few DA42's. Just got my multi ifr on one. Think that woul...

That's kinda what I thought. I mean with only the 7 hours that I already have from the endorsement it shouldn't make a difference because I'm such a newbie to the float world and have so much more to learn. If flying a 185 on floats is important because it has a more powerful engine and CS prop, it ...

Not sure if this is going to matter at all, but does it make a difference that I got my endorsement on a 172 instead of a 185? I can't exactly go back and do it again lol.

I think I have a Leatherman somewhere. Just have to find it...

One last thing, I know this may seem like a dumb question but, I don't have an IFR rating so would I need one. The only reason I ask is because I have come across a couple operators who want their pilots to have one.

First Float Job?

Hey Guys, What are my best options for getting that first float job? I have around 300 hours right now and earned my float rating in sept. I look around and see all of these postings and these operators don't necessarily want loads of time... just loads of float time. How does a wannabe float driver...

hey yow2002 , just out of curiosity are you (or have previously been) a pilot for the rcmp? you had some great info, it helped to fill some voids. you mentioned that they are only hiring civilian pilots since 2000. but the other day i had the opportunity to talk to a helicopter pilot and he's a full...

RCMP Air Service

Just wondering if anyone has any info on the RCMP Air Service? It says on there website min 3000 hours - is this really competitive? What's the average time of new hires? What are the salaries like for civilian pilots? If assigned the PC12, what about movement to other aircraft like the P180 Avanti?...

I know it's like "where have I been lately"... I just got back from a long rotation overseas and this is the first I've heard about it. I remember hearing some talk from a family member who's a A320 Captain about Jazz taking FO's from aviation colleges. It's hard to believe that it came to that. Doe...
