Re: To be a pilot or not...

I'm in the same position as you. Its taking me forever to finish my CPL training because I spend most of my time thinking of how I am supposed to be a single dad and a fresh CPL pilot. I guess the reason I cant come to a good plan is because there simply isn't one. If I got a job tomorrow as a first...

Re: Pilot/AME

I made the mistake of becoming crew chief. There is no way I can afford to work as a low time pilot now, unless I make a larger effort to pay off the mortgage. If you want to be a pilot/ame, the only thing stopping you is you.

Aviation text books

I have a huge aviation library and it would be nice to get the books updated and put in my iPad at the same time. I can't see myself lugging 400lbs of books around my entire life. I can't find from the ground up in PDF format, does it exist?

Painted hangar floors

Ive been working in a hangar with unpainted floors for awhile now. People are thinking we should get the floors painted. Is it a good idea? These radial engines like to drip oil. Im sure they make oil resistant paint but Im sure if we found a better way to wash the floor it could look almost as clea...

I just want the young guys reading this to know that not all AMEs are broke and more whiny about work conditions/industry than a 20 year old pilot.

Re: Where should I apply to start working ramp?

The reason your working the ramp for 2+ years is because of the amount of people waiting for a flying position ahead of you. The company isn't making you pay your dues, it's supply vs demand. Seems like some of you have no clue how the world works, you should be on the ramp for 2+ years so you under...

Re: Future AME Discouraged

I am an AME. I own my own home and drive a nice truck. I have a beautiful wife and a baby on the way. I have had a love for airplanes ever since my father took me to the abbotsford airshow when I was 5 years old. I fly airplanes as well as fix them. I'm happy with life.

Best location for aerobatics in Canada?

Im going to be on a 2 week on/off work schedule soon and I would like to relocate to a location that has low living costs and an excellent airfield to fly out of. Anyone know a few good places?

Engines and the direction they spin

Let's say you fly a pitts and want to upgrade your ride to a yak. Is it a big deal that the foot work is opposite or does your brain get it after a few flights?
