Re: Want a job in BC
Its been fairly busy, and its a decent place to work, like any big operation it has its challenges. The Fraser Valley is a great place to live if you love to spend time outdoors. The taxes maybe higher but its an awsome change from Alberta thats for sure.

Re: "No Holds Barred" opinion on my resume
Wrenchjerk. Good for you for sticking it out. Tthe one thing you will find in aviation is a high ratio of whiners and complainers. I came from a mechanical background and when i switched to the aircraft industry more than one person said "you'll never make a decent living in aviation". I can tell yo...

Re: NTD specialist?
A couple of things, coming from an aircraft NDT Tech. First of all, what "weld inspection" tickets do you have? Are they CGSB or ASTM? Maigasi, I used to work for Cougar, they are not in YYC and you certified through them? Appendix K trained? The problem with alot of industrial NDT people trying to ...

Ya its hard to say, the rumors keep flying. I know a few guys that work at both places and they say that the situation is fluid at the moment. Rumors of a Lockheed or L3 buyout, all sorts of stuff floating around. Time will tell!

I watched that tonight, I thought SMS was suppose to cure all evils. When you leave saftey to the operator, economics dictates the level of saftey. Thats what privatization will do for you!

Possible sale of Cascade? Its hard to say, Conair has been doing its best to seperate itself from Cascade, and Cascade is pushing the union for a one year contract in a hurry?? Lots of rumor flying right now, but no facts as yet.

Re: pipe trades or AME
Good call 212. Ever since I got into the aviation industry, I have bumped into the whiners and complainers everywhere. Now thats not to say that the same does not go for other industries, but if your dislike aviation so much, get out and go do something else. Plenty of others have, and it will allow...

Re: pipe trades or AME
Good call badnewz! As a fellow NDT guy, who trained under badnewz I would say that NDT is a great trade. Its not all the cash and glory that some people here make it out to be though. Yep it pays decent, but working on the upgraders not going to be any picnic, and there is call for NDT in aviation, ...

Re: exceltech finished
JohnKruck, you must be an airline owner, or at least a sworn republican. Canada is terrible place to do maintenance? Becuase people here would actually like some quality of life, and not be treated like slaves, under paid and under trained? Thats ridiculous at best. The South American Comapnys do it...

Yes I am quite curious when we can get some BUY CANADA policys going. We support companys like Air Canada, Bombardier and others with our tax dollars (bail outs) and then they send there work overseas because they can get cheap slave labour? And put qualified Canadians out of work, the very people w...

So nobody out Kamloops way? Seems kind of odd being a larger center. Hey YBP, thats Vic from Enviroblast you guys bring up. I suppose up north your gonna have to fly people in either way. I was looking on the Kamloops airport website and I didn't see any type of NDT AMO's operating out of there. Per...

Hey Aviator Mech Well I wouldn't jump on the "Rocky Mountain High" train too fast. There has been layoffs galore out here, Cascade, Air Canada, Avcorp they have all had massive layoffs over the last year or so. There are alot of unemployed AME's out here all fighting for what little is left. If I we...

I am not sure how much quicker that would get you nearer the top of the ladder, but managment is about leadership, without good leadership skills, you will not be a good manager. As far as leadership goes, its not something you can really be taught, in school as such, you either are or you are not. ...

I have checked, have you seen the new work experience hours? You may get one, and if your working ALOT you may get 2 with the present regs. You say you got your 3 level 2's in a year, that must have been a long time ago, or did you gain one of your level 1's during that process. Level 1's are fine a...

NDT
Well Brian, though you may have a very old CGSB cert in your wallet you are obviosly out of touch with the aviation NDT industry. The 1 year that you speak of is not even close to the truth. With the new CGSB regs the hours have been boosted up for every method, which of course ups the time it takes...

Well I can understand why AC is having a tough time, they don;t give a rats behind about the customer, the union mindset is killing AC as fast as the UAW is killing the auto industry. You just said cheap and flying in the same sentence. Unfortunatly there is no "cheap" way to do a CPL and MIFR. Sounds like you better be looking for some better employment or the dreaded "student loan". I hear they are looking for lots of oilfield workers out here in Alberta. Thats how I paid for a...
