Re: Vimy Flight - Birth of a Nation
I believe Bob Wade is piloting one of those planes. For those of you who are too young to remember, he was the first NATO pilot to fly a Mig 29 back at the Abbotsford Airshow in 1986 I believe.

Re: Avcanada Posting Etiquette and Consequences
I agree that you are forced to tighten the sight up in terms poster etiquette. This is the result of our increasingly politically correct world meshing with our increasing litigatious society. This site has matured much since its early days when pretty much anything passed for a thread, and often th...

Re: Caravan captain or Metro F/O?
I realize that the solution I am about to propose will not be popular, but it is advice that I wished I had followed years ago when I was in your position. You are still low time in the industry, not just from an hour perspective, but from a percentage of your productive wage earning years invested....

It may be that the time period for the shares is due. They seem to be doing well and have a solid client base. I do not believe that they would be closing their doors for any negative reason.

Re: City Centre Medevac Study
Infinitair, I did not know that you did medivac flights. If not what is your vested interest in the medivac issue? I do not think that a change in policy for medivacs will change your status. You are grasping at straws here your time and energy would be better spent on retooling your business plan t...

Re: Career change advice needed
Dazed, One last item before I go. I too live in YYC, had a good job flying jets, and walked from the industry somewhere between 5000 to 6000 hours. Choose carefully, stable office jobs with oil companies in cities like Calgary are not easy to come by.

Re: Career change advice needed
Here is something that nobody has addressed here yet. You are only 33 and have no wife and kids...yet. You will more than likely end up meeting a girl, get married and have some kids. With the poor money you make in aviation your wife will have to work as well. This means daycare for the kids, or at...

Re: Poor Pilot's Second Job?
I fail to see what the dilemma or issue is here. You are obviously a strong fit individual as you are able to obtain a class 1 medical. Proceed directly to the nearest downtown street corner and turn tricks, I mean hell you should be used to prostituting yourself after all you are a pilot.

Re: Edmonton City Centre Airport
I have to disagree with the previous post when the discussion turns to business relocating to Calgary and not maintaining an Edmonton office. There is a solution to every problem if you think long and hard about it. This is what is happening now. Executive Express www.executiveexpresscanada.ca has c...

Re: Edmonton City Centre Airport
That is not the point. I said that at times even a small jet under certain weather conditions cannot use the strip. Now lets say you want to depart YXD and head south to a warmer climate, when you take full fuel and your pax, it is not feasable. The wet runway condition is the problem. Slush is wors...

I am not saying anything but here are the computer generated numbers for the SII on a wet runway in order to comply with part 135. Quick numbers on a C550SII Takeoff N1 = 96.4 /94.2 V1 = 95 Vr = 95 V2 = 101 Venr = 155 Dist = 9,825 Ret Vapp = 110 Ret Vref = 105 Ret Dist = 2,820 Flaps:20d MTOW:15,100 ...

Re: Edmonton City Centre Airport
Okay, it has been a while but lets look at the usefulness of this airport for small business jets. If you take for example a Cessna SII, V or the like and look at the numbers required to operate this type of aircraft at near gross weight with a wet runway or in snow or slush, i believe you will find...

Gee, I guess I must be wrong. Shame how I never knew what was really happening in more than a decade or so of calling yyc my home field. Good to see that there are enlightened people like you out there to set me straight. Now just as a side note, I guess I never saw a 727 land 25 and make the left o...

Re: TSB introduces Watchlist
corytrevor, how long have you been the business? have you ever flown cargo? Do you know any cargo pilots? A number of years ago I saw a KFC 727 land on 25 in yyc and make Charlie. You do the math. This was before they relocated the cargo ramp after which many touched down just prior to the 16/34 int...
