Re: Middle East conflicts affecting Canada?
Fair enough I don't know much about LNG. That said even on that note, we can still do much better when it comes to fast tracking major public projects. We allow too many individual groups and lobbies too much power in Canada. There needs to be a balance of doing the proper studies, but also not drag...

Re: Jazz CRJ crash at LaGuardia
For those who can bear it - there is surveillance video out now. It is hard to watch. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DWO7_qnjUTh/?igsh=b3NyYnk2MzJhd3Rr Wow, quite impressive the destruction was limited to the cockpit. That's quite the hit. No fire either. This could have easily been even worse... :...

Re: Jazz CRJ crash at LaGuardia
I haven't been there in a long time but IIRC LGA has a fully automated stop bar/runway status lighting system. Day one of left seat training many years ago it was drilled into us, that even if ATC says cleared to cross you NEVER cross if the bars are red. Period. Even if the truck was cleared, if th...

Re: Pilot_inty...
I've flown with the guy... Didn't know he failed a check ride, but it doesn't surprise me one bit. It's like flying with a melon. Might as well be single pilot because the guy seems so clueless on what he's doing most days. Too busy filming his PDC readbacks and motivational videos about turning le...

Re: Flight Attendant strike vote opens on July 28th
You sure about that? I have noticed the new hire experience drop a lot over the last 12 months. People who would have never had their resume reviewed 5 years ago are being hired and their lack of experience is noticeable in the flight deck. A lot of pilots with zero 705 time. There are a number that...

9 months from planning to fully operational LNG terminal in Germany.
One could only DREAM of something like that in Canada. Sure we have Kitimat now. How many years did that take again?

I have never found the pension calculator to be all that accurate. Especially when it comes to timeline to hold certain seats. It's very conservative.

Re: Middle East conflicts affecting Canada?
If only Canada had more LNG export terminals ready and the shit was being pulled out of the ground with haste. We could take huge advantage of this right now, but the weak leadership for the last 10 years on this topic says otherwise.

Re: 2026 PIT FLEET AC
Another question for you guys, in the interview I heard before they even start they take your logbook and go through it. Are they pretty picky on it? I heard that pretty much every time you have in there needs to be certified. Have all your milestones tabbed with labels. If you are missing any sign...

Re: Flight Attendant strike vote opens on July 28th
If AC were to slash top pilot wages by 50%, the impact would be relatively minor, there simply aren't many places to go for pilots that would still pay somewhat similarly. Flight attendants are much more mobile. LOL If my pay got slashed 50% I'd find a new career. I already find it hard enought to ...

Re: 2026 PIT FLEET AC
Honestly dude I get all the questions, but at the end of the day it's all out of your control as a new hire. Best thing you can do is accept that you'll end up where you end up, and reasses based on seniority after a few years. No one has a crystal ball. That said IF I were to guess, YYZ/YUL should ...

Re: QOL in Cargojet besides poor pay
Regarding the original question, the QOL in terms of scheduling is that it's basically a part-time job with only 15 days a month worked. A bunch of these might be reserve, and there's a pretty even mix if overnight & daytime flights. TY. how about the cockpit culture in general? Is it a very toxic,...

Re: Any tips on getting a first job in 2026?
Also pro tip, use the Civil Aviation Reg Database to filter for commercial operations and by aircraft type. You may end up finding some operators you've never heard of, usually smaller ones. That's how I found my first company (followed up by showing up in person and being a pest for almost a month ...

Re: Any tips on getting a first job in 2026?
The road trip is still a tried and true method. I know people as recent as last summer having success. Poster above me is very right with the 3 categories, one being "in town and ready to go." That's how I hooked my first real flying job with just over 200 hours. Being there and ready, and making co...

Re: 2026 PIT FLEET AC
It's hard to say what the future will bring with YVR, but the A220 base is still growing. Rumours are it's expected to be around 180CA/170FO which would add another 60CA/70FO or so. Now will that come out of further reductions from the 737? Hard to say. There is also the 787-10s arriving over the ne...

Re: 2026 PIT FLEET AC
Lots of 737 FO NHs in YYZ waiting to get back to YVR too. All bidding to the A220 with the allowed base move as positions open up due to the 737 being reduced in YVR. Good luck getting a YVR position for at least 2 years unless we start seeing 787 growth which will create a decent knock on effect do...

It's funny seeing all you sandbox defenders defending a city/state that literally runs off of slave labour while trying to shit talk Canada. Do we have our own issues? Absolutley. Re: How will the ATPL changes affect the industry?
None of this will matter for most people. It's not so different in the USA with the restricted ATPL. I have a feeling TC was trying to make it more similar to ICAO and the FAA, but maybe overstepped a bit by saying PIC ride. Any 705 ride should be all that is needed, that's how it is in the USA. Get...

Is it true that A330 RP out of YYZ get a lot of pairings that are operating out to Europe and then DH home? Yes and have fun in economy only captains and first officers get confirmed business class seating on planned DH so have at it. that was changed on last contract, stop spreading lies. Mirrored...
