Congrats on the "gig" Adam! Personally, I feel that ANY opportunity to fly is an opportunity to learn and gain valued experience. Yes, it WILL improve your future hireability, more so depending on what you yourself takeaway from it, and, what you leave behind. There will be people you'll leave behin...

Re: Welcome to the real world...

I personally learned more up north in the first few years of my flying career than the subsequent years combined. You should get a job selling tickets at some J31 operator or the equivalent and wait for a right seat job. I dont agree with pilots that do this, and avoid the learning experience and c...

Time will tell of concequence - in the meantime take solstice in knowing they'll NEVER come to appreciate nor understand aviation as we do. "Glorified computer monitors"....I say let em have it. Freedom is what you make it, or conversly....

Who's got the better pension plan???? Based on a near lifetime involved with other Ontario public service plans - "nothing" - would have been FAR better to invest in my own portfolio. Regarding teeth, perhaps - but then again, my dentist gives far better rates than those charged to "the plans" ;-)

I hope that is for a very junior, first year wage, but its still awfully low. No wonder there are vacancies. Seems they're looking at those guys for right seat just north of 1k/wk....that to me is low, but more reasonable than door #1 offer. Fully agree though, no wonder they're looking for Cap's. ...

By all means, negotiate yourself right out of a job if you want, but I'm set for the summer and happy with the normal salary I'll be making. Sends all kinds of warm fuzzy feelings up my spine - fully agree shimmy! I've always found it's best to get in the door first and establish by merit what you'...

in keeping it short and as a past member of a large Ontario union for many years, I say only this: Bring in a union and give up all freedom you've come to enjoy as a pilot....when, where and how to fly are already mandated by regulatory authority such as it is - the above decisions are left to us un...

not to mention the upcoming "english language skill" test.....they'll hang a guy out because he may have an accent - but they continue to allow an entirely foreign language (french) to the vast majority of pilots.

think I'm with the program now - thanks so much. My reference to the weight category on an old licence was merely a passing interest, obviously nothing of the sort on modern documents. If you can't fit both arms around her or if she is wider than she is tall...then you are getting some "heavy time". See also "northern princess", etc... :D See there's a sliding scale of what's allowed based on how many degrees north of 50 you are, and how long you've been there. It's okay man, we'...

When is ATPL req'd & what is "heavy"??

I don't normally get too active on these forums, I like to read it though and pick up lots of good info. I asked a few fellows that seemed to be "up" on regs to help me understand "large aircraft" as applied to licence requirements. I thought maybe it was a dumb question but it appears not as they s...
