Re: Express Pilots VS Mainline Pilots
Have junior/low time FO's gone from the express carriers to AC via the PML (of any version)? Merely curious if that has ever happened. I am OTS and wondering at what point (as an express pilot) do you get that interview.

My first thought was, there are many pilots to be had in YQT. This might help with retention.

Re: Lack of Crew?
Why haven't regionals like Porter (or any of the express carriers for that matter) advertised for DEC's? I would think a DEC advertisement would attract pilots with interest...those not willing to come in from the right seat and take a pay cut.

PPIP (Life Insurance)
Hey everyone, It's that time of life hehe. I am starting to do some homework on life insurance. One broker I have been in talks with has already mentioned aviation questionaires and possibly higher rates because I am a pilot. Another guy told me it shouldn't affect the quote, and to sign on the dott...

Re: Expecting a baby but want to be a pilot
Not to hijack the thread, but how did/do some of you guys/gals manage being away (and same for your other half) while having a new born at home? This is more directed at pilots who are away quite a bit with low seniority and not much support from family (ie living in a new province, base is not wher...

I agree with one of the posters, above. I would guess they are still gathering resumes. I applied early March. At the time, the closing date was March 27th. Unless that has changed...

Re-routes from clearance delivery
How do these work? Is it all automated? Does a computer take your filed route, determines it wont work with the flow of traffic, and some matrix notifies the controlling agency (clearance) it won't jive with surrounding controlling agencies (or busy routes) and spits out a more economic route for cl...

Re: Commuting at Porter?
CL, It was horrible. That is just my opinion. On year 1 FO pay I was not willing to live across the street, and chose to stay roughly an hour outside of the downtown core. It's not only the rush hour commutes. Good luck getting off the island at 8pm on a Saturday night and trying to inch your way pa...

Re: Have you ever fired a student?
Shiny Side Up hit the nail on the head: "I'd wager that everyone who ends up being good at flying has days where you get mad at yourself and are really unhappy with one's own performance. The consistent feature of students who do poorly are those who are perfectly happy with their own poor performan...

Re: Fees etc.
I have searched and searched, in all the relative topics but can't seem to find the answer. Maybe there isn't one. When my CAME grants me another year, stamps my medical, and submits my report...is there a doctor at TC HQ who actually reviews the reports and is double checking my doctors work (I'm t...

One Six Right Melody
Hey everyone, For those who know their music (and have watched One Six Right) around the 15:30 mark the aircraft owners start talking about their aircraft and in the background there is a faint guitar melody playing. Would anyone happen to know the name of it? I heard it on the radio (but a piano ar...

Re: appreciate constructive tips to secure first f/o jet pos
I have a question for you corporate guys,
How does training work? I assume most companies send you
to FS or similar but is it one on one or do they fill a class and you
just have to hope your not paired up with Joe Blow from Mexico in the sim?
Would make SOP's sort of tough, no?

Q400 Electrical Question
I have a question that I can't seem to figure out on the Q400. A picture in the AFM of the CB panels revealed that there is a CB for the "stby hyd pump1" on one of the main busses (I believe the right main). I was under the impression that the standby hyd pump was powered by 115 AC. The QRH says if ...
