Anecdotally, I know a couple guys in Canada that was successful in attaining the FAA ATP (FAA allows you to credit time as sole manipulator of controls towards PIC credit), then applied for a TC ATPL through this conversion process successfully.

What about converting your TC CPL to FAA, attaining the FAA ATP (which would require an ATP-CTP course and a ride), after which you convert the FAA ATP back to a TC ATPL?
