Re: Air Canada Pilot Incentive Bonus
I'd offer up a 4th option: Based on all the survey data that ALPA had, this offer met the minimums that the majority of the pilot group was willing to accept. If that was the case, they had no choice but to accept it and put it to a vote. Personally, this was the exact percentage increase that I sai...

Re: New Contract thread
Are new-hires in a hybrid DB/DC pension similar to what other AC unions were handed in arbitration, or is the DC pension the only pension available to new-hires? As well, if there is a DB component, what are the numbers like I.E. 1% per YOS to a max of 35 years? Is anyone willing to share the LCC p...

Re: Pay Scale Question
That's pretty close to how the tables work. Generally you can multiply the hourly rate by 1000 to get your rough yearly salary, although the Minimum Monthly Guarantee is usually less than 80 hours per month (in October for YYZ based Embraer FO's on a block it is 66, although you can easily fly more)...

Re: Junior Pilots, you have control!
Good post JS. I think us junior guys forget how much pull we have, and just assume the current pay scale is set in stone. I'm all in favor of say a 10% increase on the Embraer and 320 (with a corresponding decrease on the 777/767/330). I'd rather have the money now, and not some empty promise down t...

Re: What does this do?
We had basically the same setup in the Jetstream31.
As far as we could tell it didn't do anything; just gave us pilots something to play with when we got bored!

Re: Airline Holiday Pay
Not sure about the rest, but at AC, they simply give you the stat holidays in addition to your vacation time. If memory serves, that means an additional 9 days of vacation time. It makes no difference in terms of pay if you actually work the stat holiday. It's kind of nice to be able to take the tim...

Re: Low level flying
I used to work for TC Enforcement, and a lot of our cases dealt with Low Level Flying. The assumption that as long as you are greater than 500' AGL, you'll be legal, is not always true. (even if there is no yellow on the map) There is no definition in the CARS as to what a "built up area" is, theref...

Re: TL2 Form
I've used the TL2 form in the past (for previous employers), and the tax rebate definitely adds up. But I don't think you can use it at Air Canada. In order to claim the expense, the employer must not have reimbursed you for the meals in the first place. As Air Canada pays you per diems, they have i...

AC Job Offer Questions
I just received the offer from AC (mainline), and I have a few questions for the AC drivers out there. 1. What bases are new hires getting? 2. Pros and cons for the different bases? 3. What is the average schedule for new hires? (days on/off, away from home etc.) I'm a first time poster, but I would...
