Re: Cathay
Is Cathay still all the good hype it once was? Where else is a good place to go for someone who didn't get into A/C and wants to do the expat route nowadays? as xsbank mention, Pprune is a a great forum for international stuff My choices would be Emirates Etihad Qatar Singapore Australian Garuda Ma...

There have only been a handfull of MECH's that I didn't totally trust, and not one of those would deliberately send an unsafe machine flying. Sure I have seen some sketchy "ground checked servicable" signitures, but notning really posing a safety issue. The only problem I have is watching guys fix ...

Just a couple of thoughts on two person crews. The RJ that departed the wrong runway at LEX? Would either guy make that mistake solo? The crew who flew the RJ at FL410 empty, only to have a double flame out and die. Would either have done that solo? I know the aircraft require two pilots..still, on...

The definition of a Professional Pilot
Is it a pilot with any ticket who acts safe? Is it a pilot with a commercial ticket who acts safe? Is it a person who's profession is to fly aircraft and is being paid a salary to do so? Is it a pilot who flies for the 'big boys' Some of the few defenitions I've heard. Interesting question. What do ...

Good point, however I believe you do a fair amount of flying as they upgade you from right seat to the Beaver. Also, flying a cheiftan certainly doesn't help you fly a single engine on floats but get's you hours. It's a tricky one. Depends on what your ultimate goal is. Do you want to ultimatley be...

Worth what you paid me for it: 1) Lincoln freed the slaves 2) A day with time in your logbook is better than a day without time in your logbook, if you have less than 5,000 hours. I realize that everyone rather tiresomely has to justify their own decision - they try to promote the route they took, ...

RC320, I respect that your opinion is valid, I just think that a ramp job that does not actively involve a check-out is BS; exploitation; a slow-down in your career. If you have to eat, fair enough, but there is no reason to hang out for 2 years and get right seat on a PA31 or a Van. Very few guys ...

That's funny..because a BE02 is the ICAO designator for the Beech 200 and up until a certain point was also used for the 1900. When they finally realized the two were very different aircraft the code for the 1900 was changed to B190. I wonder why your licences still say BE02?? BE20 is the desig for...

You all miss the point .. i mean got the point. . Jazz is hiring straight out of flight college. Pilots don’t need to work the ramp at this time. Just because we had to when we started, doesn’t mean anyone else should have to. Pilots who take a ramp job or non flying job in this job climate are sho...

F-16, you might as well give up because they're not listening to us - if they are not ambitious enough to find a flying job now, when times are good, working the ramp is a cop-out. This is my last word... Rampies, if you've been on the ramp all last year and nobody is checking you out now, it won't...

I think the problem is trust. The newbies can't trust the employer and can't trust the situation to unravel favourably. Too many guys have worked the ramp of 18-24 months and then the company went under, or the co. hired other people. If there was a written guarantee that 18 months on the ramp woul...

Yes the 777 will be replacing the 500's on the YYZ-HKG route but as for the 500's being sold, according to the last prospectus, they will be the only 340's to now stay within the company. Plan is to utilize them on a YVR-SYD direct route skipping out on the HNL stop we currently do with the 763. YV...
