Re: Q jets Closing down

I hope everyone who lost their jobs is able to find something quickly. It looks like one of the Citations is now at Air Partners. The Challenger when to Skyservice not too long ago. On a side note I don't think too much has been resolved at MBE Jet. All the partners are still chasing after MB. Altho...

Re: MBE Jets

It would seem that the Globe and Mail had a bit on it as well...a few more goodies and insight into why the airplanes are grounded... The quality of the scotch on board isn’t in dispute. But just about everything else is in a heated legal battle related to ownership stakes in three executive jets an...

Re: Air Mikisew shut down?

It looks as though the Alberta Health Air Ambulance will be taken over by Bar XH Air and one of their charter machines. Not too much information to report otherwise.

They must be doing some fleet restructuring since they just picked up a 1900C from North Cariboo.

Re: BAR XH

Great organization and good people. Not necessarily a lot of flying but it is consistent with the medevac and charter operations. I don't believe they hire anyone who does not meet the Alberta Health requirements for scheduling convenience. Hiring is done out of Medicine Hat but I believe the pilot ...

Re: Calm Air aircraft for sale ...

Without knowing anything from the inside I would assume it is just some reshuffling of the fleet. They recently picked up their first ATR-72. With the new ownership in place it may just be some company wide streamlining between Perimeter and Keewatin.

Re: North Cariboo Update

Actually it's obscene...and hypocritical. Many 704 pilots at CMA come nowhere near the Contrail requirements. But there is an assumption of experience and competency ("credibility") because the airline is a Tier 3 carrier. The other thing I always find interesting is Oil Company XYZ subscribes to C...

Re: North Cariboo Update

Well this is off topic pretty quickly. Does this mean that North Cariboo has lost it's Contrail approval? On a side note. Contrail is there to give large (Canadian) oil & gas companies the idea of heightened safety - Whether many of you agree or not. While Contrail always seems to take a fair bit of...

North Cariboo Update

Just wondering how North Cariboo is doing these days in light of the Edmonton incident.
Has there been a decrease in business? How is the morale of staff?

It never hurts to ask them...

Remember the other half of Air Partners is Morgan Air which operates a flight school as well as a Cessna 401 and Gulfstream Twin Commander on charter.

Corporate Express

Not too sure why the last post was deleted...but...

Corporate Express Air is officially done. They are no longer answering their phones or responding to emails. There are a couple of trailers outside their office today packing up maintenance and office equipment.

I think it is true...I saw toolboxes leaving the hangar yesterday, you cannot book any flight for this week on their website, and no flights are operating today...

Goodbye Corporate Express Air.

Bar XH Air is one of those smaller companies that tends to fly under the radar. It was been around for a long time and is pretty well respected. Pay is comparable to any other Calgary operator but not nearly as good as it was about a year ago. From what I have heard there have been no layoffs despit...

Re: Cheyenne 400 LS vs. MU-2

Just to throw something else out there...How about a King Air 300? Not one of the useless 300LW models but a true King Air 300. Performance wise it is competitive with many of the other aircraft while being rather maintenance friendly. You can really dress them up with some nice winglets too.

Re: Flight Dispatcher - some questions

You are certainly in luck being in Calgary whether it is Sunwest, Air Sprint, North Cariboo, Canadian North or Westjet. Another option to consider is joining a flight services company such as Skyplan or Colt International - both companies have offices in Calgary.

Good luck.

Re: Hawkair pilots are unionized

They had attempted to unionize before the financial difficulties. If you go back through some of their bankruptcy documents I am sure you will find the threat to unionize was one of the catalysts for filling for creditor protection when they did. The pilots had threatened to unionize again through t...

The aircraft used to operate out of the Esso Avitat in Calgary. I am not too sure if it still does as I have not seen it lately.
A little searching shows the aircraft is owned by The Norcal Group a Calgary Real Estate company. This could be a start for you.

Re: Shell's Embraer

I can confirm that the Embraer is a crew mover, much like the Dornier is. Since Shell Canada was bought out by Royal Dutch Shell their was a move to no longer operate any executive aircraft. That is the reason that the brand new Falcon 2000 was sold.

I think they just did a batch of hiring but it never hurts to put one in. Pay is higher than most in Calgary.

Alberta Health minimums are 500TT, but Bar XH does a fair bit of charter so they usually like higher time pilots.

I think they are doing pretty good as well.
I know that they added another Dash 8 back in December. The aircraft always seem to be flying and in my run-ins with the people - they are great!
