AAh the Redditt Legion. Quite a few aircraft got flown in there. Sometimes you can still find Ken Race in there.

Re: Norseman on Railway Tracks

Liquid Charlie`s right, skis off ,wheels on ,no brakes. I once saw Wings Aviation`s Otter (HKA?) flown by Clyde Coons land from the west ,instead of hitting the tracks, ground looped to the north and hit a parked Dornier DO 28.

letsfly wrote:The most recent numbers I have are for the Piston Beaver on floats only, which includes:
Fuel, Insurance, Prop, Engine and Pilot @ $355.00 per hour.

It could vary somewhat based on wages, fuel cost and prop manufacturer.

When I did the exam I didn`t have a paper copy or computer for the cars, it was done from memory. Know your ops manual inside out for the interview.

Re: Kenora air

C-GAQJ was imported into Canada around 1975 and I think ex-military. Belonged to Al Geary at Sportsman`s Lodge, Little V. I remember when it had duals and still has the pain in the ass seat. It`s on 4930`s and next to JEI,one of Kenora Air`s better performers. Liquid Charlie maybe your thinking of MR...

Re: Why Transport doesn't like externals

Charioteer what`s your point? The external load issue is just another Transport Canada witch hunt. Aircraft ,including the Norseman have been flying external loads since the dawn of Canadain Aviation.

Re: Beaver Tips

First, every engine starts different. When they are warm you can start them by pumping the throttle, but make sure it`s turning over a few times before hitting the mags. Cross wind take off with a wind from the left, use climb flap till on the step, then take off flap once on the step.
