Re: MOA
A senior WJ pilot once told me you always vote no to the first offer. Its almost an SOP at this point. They will always come back with something better and you can decide on the 2nd one whether it's worth it or not. No point in wasting your energy right now.

Re: new to float operation. need some information please
You could just say you aren't sure because you have never done it before, it's the honest answer. I made 2000/month on the dock 10 years ago.

Re: Wasaya caravan missing
The low airspeed alarm for the caravan with boots is a buzzer that goes off when the airspeed decreases through 110 knots with the prop deice activated. It definitly would have helped the pilot recognize how poorly the aircraft was climbing earlier on and even would have showed a descent. It may hav...

Re: Wasaya caravan missing
The investigation also determined that company practices did not ensure that operational risks were assessed and managed appropriately. Flying into forecast icing conditions was a company norm although four of the five Cessna 208B aircraft were prohibited from operating in these conditions. The com...

Nick was my close friend for over 10 years. I'm not allowed to tell you what happened until the final report comes out, however, my intent is to tell Illya not to talk about shit he doesn't know about.

Re: Wasaya caravan missing
A very respectful resting place for an aviator. The scrap yard in YQT would have given you a few bucks for that scrap metal. One less employee may have not received a pay cut. :prayer: http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh627/caddismann/IMG_3863_zpsc1yexfpu.jpg Pretty much sums up the 300/1 ops sp...

They would depart off 27 because the Cargo North ramp is right at the threshold of 27. Why taxi for a mile when the wind is no issue?

Re: Cargo North (North Star Air) Crashes DC3 in PickleLake
Both propellers don't look the same, which makes me think maybe one didn't have the same power as the other. Also that picture sure looks like it's on the lake, not the airport.

Re: Lac Seul Dockhand job
John and Rena are awesome to work for! They are great people, and they treat their dockhands like people. That being said, you will work you A** off. But if you're not a slow walker, have a strong work ethic, and get through the season, you will get a good letter of recommendation. A lot of their d...

Re: Lac Seul Dockhand job
I'll start by saying John is a nice guy and a good pilot, however in todays pilot market, no pilot should need to take this job. This job is for a general labourer that will get paid an hourly wage. If you have a commercial pilots license, you can start applying to Jazz! If you have a float rating t...

Really? TC doesn't oversee anything, if they do they call you in advance to make sure you know they are coming.goingnowherefast wrote:I'm saying this from the 703 world where there's the least TC oversight.

Re: Buffalo Joe temporary shut down?
I don't understand why Buffalo hasn't made a press release. They made that small Twitter post but that's it. I figured they would want to defend the allegations made against them in order to save face with not only their customers but with general population (they are celebrities now). What's the pl...

Re: Transitioning from floats to IFR
It really depends on what IFR caravan job you got. Northern charter and cargo work is almost all VFR, IFR flight depends on how much you actually want/allowed to do it. The IFR part of it only comes in when it's dark out so you can fly Night VFR. Holding that extra fuel reserve for alternates is not...

If their OC was pulled, it's a good thing. Hope that spreads to some of the similar operators in that area.
