Nope. Not much delay... The weather wasnt the greatest either. Lots of scattered snow storms and low cloud in the area.

Yes, everyone is ok. Apparently "the smokey air increased the fuel consumption" and the engine quit on final. It was very hot and muggy here today.

Re: Well Done!
It has been mentioned that the ka100 should be replaced by the ka200. How much "newer" are these 200's you are talking about?? I have seen some 200's with higher times and cycles than some of the 100's that I worked on. As far as the crew evacuation dificculties, shall we moth ball all the 200's and...

Re: AME Freelance rates
Bobby, maybe we need to define "freelance" for you in this context!! I believe that most people who use freelancers, like myself, usually don't want to pay AMO rates or they don't get along with the AMO for one reason or another. The reason I freelance is because I have another full time job and I a...

Re: AME Freelance rates
I started freelancing about 5 yrs ago with about 5 yrs experience. AMO's were charging $75-90/hr and I charged $35. It wasn't long before veryone and his dog wanted me to work on his plane so I upped my rate to $55/hr. I am now work 8 on 6 off at my current job and I could work all those days off fr...

Cessna 185 Turbo HELP!!
I am trying to get information on the Turbotech STC to install on a Cessna 185. I have a copy of the STC and the installation manual but I need a new STC and I am unable to get a hold of them. I have done some searching online and found that Turbotech went out of business, but I am wondering if anyo...

There is not much there. Not sure sure if there are any operators. I know there is one AME there that works at the Esso(?). I'm not sure if there is an AMO there though.

Re: Deicer boot removal
That Peerco works pretty good, just don't let it stay on too long or it dries and is hard to get off too.
Yes, it smells good too....I tell my engineers it is full of vitamins and minerals but maybe a quick read of the MSDS would be interesting!!!

Belly Fuel Tank for a Beaver
Does anyone know if there is such a thing? I know there is a company that makes spray tanks that go on the belly, but is there one for fuel? I looked on Airliners.net for pictures of Beavers with a belly tank, but there were none that I could see. If so, the company name or contact info would be gre...

Yes, they do look simple enough to make but now days with the "good ol" SMS system, that would be just looking for trouble!!! We do ramp them as well, but the problem comes when we get a call that there is a 1900 on the runway with 2 skidded tires on one side.... they are quit difficult to ramp in t...

King Air Tools
I am looking for a used set of King Air landing gear extension limiters, to prevent the oleo from extending all the way while jacking the aircraft.
If you have a set that you no longer use or know of someone who has a set, please shoot me a PM.
Thanks,
YBP

Canadian AME getting an A&P and IA
I am living in Canada, but I have American Citizenship as well, and I am looking into getting my A&P and IA. I have found lots on here about getting the A&P, (It seems like Prepware is the best way to go) but I haven't been able to find anything about getting IA. Prepware has a course for it, but do...

The only involvement I have had with ocianic crossings if from the maintenenance side as I am not a pilot. I prepped a twotter for the crossing and help the ferry pilot get his stuff ready. His list was quit basic as he was a crusty old guy!!! (Hopefully he will not read this and remember me)!! - Fe...

Re: AME Duty Time Limits
Definitely and interesting topic.... It will be interesting to see what regulation if any, ever comes out. We have all started a simple task, ie change an altimeter in a KA 100, should take only an hour. But then the static leak fails and we spend 6 hrs trying to find the leak. If the duty day runs ...

What to do in Montreal (YUL)
I am going on an engine course in Montreal in May. I am a Westcoaster and this is my first time there. I am wondering if there are any interesting sights I should hit. I will be in class most of the time but I have about half a day (and every evening)before I fly out.....
Thanks,
