helicopter business opportunity
A business opportunity is available for someone interested in working for themselves. For reasons beyond the owners control he is unable to proceed to operate the helicopter company he just purchased. I sold him the company and now I am helping him find the right person to step in and run it. The ca...

transport canada's work to service schedule slowdown
The last time I applied for a C/R it took Colleen (in the Vancouver office) about five minutes to go back and type one up. Now apparently it could take up to 60 days before I get one for the aircraft I just imported. This is crazy! Since when did we become a third world country? Now the aircraft has...

Re: Airbus Developing a way to taxi without engine power
The installation might save it's own weight in fuel saved and if it breaks down you always have the engines.

Re: Battle lines being drawn over YHC Seaplane Terminal
As one involved with this issue I would like to clarify a few misconceptions that have cropped up on this site plus add a little insight as to what has happened in the past and what we hope to see happen in the future. Harbour Air and West Coast Air built a temporary floatplane facility for two mill...

Well... it's interesting to see a serious topic of dialogue in a blog - imagine how powerful and less toxic this medium would be if debates could happen without hiding behind a pseudonym.

Re: West Coast Twin Otter pilot retires with 42,000 hours .
My hat is off for you Jim. Flying the Van to Vic run in the winter is probably one of the most demanding missions in aviation. Every one of those hours was well earned.

We occaisonally fly for Whistler heli sledder and they have a snowcat up there which makes life a lot easier with a heavy airplane like the otter in deep snow with small skis.

Re: Crossing the Drake
In 2003 the Basler DC3 was damaged in a wind storm at Patriot Hills right at the start of Adventure International Networks season. When they couldn't find a twin otter they called us. We flew our single turbine otter down to the south end of Chile in November and then waited for several days to cros...

Re: KD Air Shutting down due to YVR 2010?
Whistler Air is also being affected. We have been serving the needs of this community for 24 years and just recently discovered that fixed wing traffic will not be permitted in the sea to sky corridor during the games. This of course will shut us down. What really galls me is that not once did anyon...

Re: The Flying Firemen - who were they?
In 1982 Mike Pearson hired me. I was running the Victoria Parachute Center at the time and my chief instructor had just got killed in a freak accident. I was looking for a bit of a change and Mike must have felt some compassion becuase I didn't have a lot of experience. It was one of the most intere...

Re: Ever lose the passion? Even temporarily?
This is an interesting topic - I am sure that most get involved with flying becuase of an inante passion. Can it last? I guess that depends upon your individual circumstances and personality. I have been fortunate to fly in an environment that is challenging and quite often awesome. Then there are t...

Re: Whistler Airports (And Vicinity)
Pemberton and Squamish will both be open for the Olympics but with restrictions. Aircraft arriving or departing will need to have special authorization plus have their passengers screened. The whole Sea to Sky corridor will under positive air traffic control probably from Vancouver Harbour. Fuel wil...

Re Flyin Fireman
Hi, I flew for the Flyin Firemen in the early 80's. I knew your grandfather and I can tell you that he was a fine person who helped me in aviation. Please feel free to contact me via email. mike@whistlerair.ca Cheers
