Re: Pilot walks away from helicopter crash near Alberta fire
Looking at that, it's a possibility that this was a normal approach that ended up with a power loss well inside the curve. The side view is consistent with that, from the time there is that bit of a nose drop, what may have been a high flare, and not enough rotor energy at the bottom. The pilots who...

Re: Mick the Dick From Dublin Mouths Off Again
I moved it. I couldn't be bothered to clean up all the language and figured there'd be a rage if I pulled it to do it later. So here it sits. Clean up "...all the language"? It's the same language that is in it now. This is an aviation forum, not Stockwell Day's church group. This post was about an...

Re: To all the Haters on AvCanada . . .
Something's not right. I put up a thread yesterday about the head of an airline publicly claiming that first officers were a waste of air and that airliners only needed a single pilot and that the FA's could step in if that bloke had a heart attack or was otherwise disabled. The thread was moved. To...

Re: Mick the Dick From Dublin Mouths Off Again
Do not fall into the English way of underestimating the genius of the Irish. The British Empire was built by Scots and Irish. It was the English shopkeeper mentality that let it slide into obscurity. Every other airline in the world is following his moves, closer than watching their own shares falli...

Re: Michael O'leary's new low
Unless you believe that having an IQ less than your waist size is a demographic for Ryanair passengers, I don't see how you could characterize this as a brilliant marketing move. The average chimpanzee would think, "if this guy is proposing this, what is he pulling off that we don't know about". Not...

Mick the Dick From Dublin Mouths Off Again
The most obnoxious buttplug in all of aviation now wants to get rid of the cojo, let the computer fly the airplane, and train stewardesses, as they are still called over there, to take over if the captain has a heart attack. http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/breaking/2010/0904/breaking14.html Quel...

Re: Plane carrying 4 missing in BC
A police source confirmed last week that the plane was linked to the drug trade and rewards of up to $100,000 were offered for its recovery. He said rumours about the plane being involved in a drug smuggling operation were "completely unsubstantiated." ....So which is it? :? I have a hard time thin...

Franki, First off, look to the right side of your keyboard, same row and just to the right of the " thingy. It's called the return or enter button. It creates things called paragraphs. Re: Plane carrying 4 missing in BC
I did find out this morning that it's an old 180 horse Comanche, so four guys on board and its going to be not so hot in the climb. If you draw a direct line from Penticton to Victoria, almost half of the trip is over US airspace, yet there is no search going on in the US. He did have a squawk, not ...

I don't remember his name. Doesn't matter. Name's not important, buddy will do. I do know the lawyer who filed the lawsuit. My point is these pricks passing themselves off as journalists make up anything they think will sell another paper to another moron. If "suspected sheep shaggers on board" woul...

Re: Plane carrying 4 missing in BC
Not yet, as far as I know. Hopefully, the families have gone to lawyers over the despicable journalism by Fabian Dawson in the Province about the flight being "...linked to drugs". Not a shred of proof over that. This guy's a piece of work. He's being sued now over a story he wrote about that guy wh...

Re: Air Mikisew shut down?
This whole mess with Air Mikisew just doesn't make any sense to me, I thought they were aproved by Contrails for their 1900 work shortly prior to this whole TC fiasco. If a top knotch auditing outfit like Contrails aproves a company only weeks prior to being shut down by TC then I can only asume th...

Re: Reality Check - Late in life start
BMI, body mass index, is flavor of the year at Transport Canada this year. Expect a lot of testing when you go for your medical, a lot more than normal. Like the fellas above say, you are best to start on losing that 100 pounds. You aren't realistically going to into a 172 or any other trainer at 35...

Re: C-GENG Cessna 414 departs YKZ missing nr Nova Scotia . .
Is CGENG the one that was at leggats last year (for sale by apex) that has some water damage from sitting outside for so long? Went to go see it for a potential purchase. All the floors were ripped out of it. If this was indeed the same plane. Leggats will rip your floors out to add a litre of oil.

Re: Conair Tanker Down
The first time I met Tim was as a 22 year old new hire at Conair. He had introduced himself and welcomed me and I started asking questions about the Dash 7 which we had at the time. He offered to show me the aircraft which I was in awe of. I was expecting a quick once over as this senior captain mu...

Re: CF-18 Down in Lethbridge
Just my two bits on speculating... Normally the speculation on here is about crashes which happen in the working environment of most of us here, either 703-704 stuff or private. I think speculation does serve one important purpose for us who fly in that regime. There may be an urgency in coming to s...
