Someone mentioned a .357 out the storm window, I'd go for it... powerful amunition, nice weapon, a .22 could deviate on the light cover, you don't want to spend amunition just for pleasure are you ? and the storm window makes for a good spot, you can still focus an eye on taxiing while you stick the...

I remember from my flight school having seen people (during my (and their) PPL training) really not knowing anything about the VOR and worst of all was their thoughts. Along the line of "We're not IFR/CPL, why should we care" ... damn I agree with people saying that's frightening. Sure as PPL we won...

Hi ! I knew for the student permit... I just wanted to be sure you were talking of the same thing by saying "student pilot". (I'll get my PPL in a few weeks at worse) I've also done some pessimistic maths and also got out with the same 60$/hour for a 150. I considered some 150h/year of flying, as yo...

I think it has more to do with the modern mind set than the quality of instruction. The apparently degradation of the latter comes from the former. Being in today's educational and FTU system, I just don't see the passion for improvement or knowledge in other students. The dominant mindset is to 'd...

Hi ! Thanks for the reply. For insurance, what you exactly mean by "student pilot" ? ... let's say I might buy a plane while already having my PPL (building time for my CPL then) And parking the plane ? in a hangar or not, etc. I just wanna have an idea so I can plan ahead. I made a "pessimistic" co...

Hi there. I've never thought of leasing my own aircraft for my upcoming CPL training ... though I feel it might be a good idea. What kind of plane, what price would you put in it. How would you deal with your bank, the plane payment, etc. ? Every bit of answer is appreciated :) EDIT : Actually the "...

Pilot_adam> What kind of plane were you flying on ? I guess something like a 152/172. Sure a 12kt crosswind can be a hard thing for a third solo especially with the soft-field nose-up. (knowing that the maximum demonstrated x-wind in a C152 is 12kts...) I'll tell you, if I had one thing to train in ...

Hi ! No big mistakes but during my PPL training it happened me a couple times (in a C152, remember the tight panel layout) to hit the flaps while leaning (> "Why the hell this plane is so slow today ?") and also after landing (short terrain), when retracting the flaps, have hit the throttle by accid...
