The PAL Dash8 departed YHZ awhile ago on their way to Curacao. If I recall correctly they operate on behalf of the Coast Guard.

Re: TC Medical Deferral - Substance Use
When do you think it would be appropriate to reach out to NavCanada? Do they care about the details of the delay, or is it a matter of either having a certificate or not? Additionally the TC letter states my certificate would be restricted (ie. "with another ATC") for 6 months -- I presume this wou...

Re: YYZ Fall VFR
Huh?! Are you saying that NAV Canada doesn’t provide lodging/barracks for you when you go on training, and you’ll be forced to find your own way to live in Toronto on a $49k salary for up to 2 years?? I really hope that’s not what you’re saying. Not too long ago they not only didn't provide room an...

We have to warn people not to eat detergent pods, I don't hold out much hope of this being successful for the general population.

Everyone is a full time employee either indeterminate or on contract for a specified period.hopefulguy wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 11:27 pm As the title says; is every single ATC/FSS in all of Canada a full-time employee? Is there any possibility at all to potentially only work part time?
Thanks!

You will probably have more luck with posting this in the general forum as opposed to here in ATC.

Re: Trainee Pay
Do you know when trainees receive benefits like dental? I've heard it's after you pass the generic course so ~6 months after starting, but I was hoping I can have this confirmed. Also, do you know if facility premiums are a 1 time payment each year like a bonus, or if it's split equally across each...

Hello people! Just want to get an overview of the timeline for initial Cat 2 medical certification. How much time did it take for you all to get the certification? Do certain regions/cities have a faster processing time? Does NavCanada allow you to join training while your certification is on going...

Re: Trainee Pay
I recently got an offer for an IFR training position, and I was wondering how accurate the ~$49,000 salary that’s on the website is. I’d be taking a pretty large pay cut if I accept (I made 120k last year) and not sure how easy it would be to support my mortgage, family, etc.. can trainees work pai...

... even recommend going to get your medical done before getting an offer to help with the wait times. This is probably the best advice I have seen on this forum. A CAT2 medical with ECG costs $250 in the New Brunswick area. I would probably get one, if I were in a new wanna be's shoes, as soon as ...

Re: How strict are Transport Canada with issuing medical licenses if a test falls close to the standard limit?
I'm not sure at what point they want you to have a medical in hand Once you get to the specialty specific course is where I would think you will need a medical as you have breaks in the course where you go on the floor and actively or at least try to actively apply what you have learned before goin...

Most IFR generic training in Moncton starts in the spring with specialty specific training starting in the fall.
