Re: tools for an AME apprentice

those leatherman's are junk IMHO. get yourself something similar from victorianox, farrrr better quality. i skimmed the list so far and i didn't see drive adapters. ie 3/8 to 1/4, 1/4 to 3/8, etc etc etc. i have a whole pile of them. also i would suggest flex sockets in 1/4" drive, a good mirror, an...

Re: money

Is it overseas?? hey jaircraft, it's a joke. they pay their domestic ame's poorly. you *can* make some decent money working for their overseas operations though, although i've heard the conditions can be quite horrible. put a question up in the maintenance forum for...

wages aren't good, even for an ame there. really remember where you're going to have to live, and the cost of food! it's somethingg a lot of people don't think about if you want to live close. cost of parking, length of drive for me, (plus gas!) it just wasn't worth it. however, the guys are great. ...

Sometimes the brushes on a starter/gen stick, due to carbon build-up wet splined shafts are notorious for this, a slight tap on the starter will free up the brushes and the starter will turn over. Usually this is done just to get you home so that you can change the starter/gen. Hope this answers yo...

Now for the negatives: To me, Thompson was an absolute hell-hole. And now that I'm out of aviation I'm not going to sugar-coat things anymore. I absolutely hate Thompson. I've lived elsewhere up north before, but never in my life have I seen so much poverty, violence, and narrow-mindedness. Maybe i...
