Re: IAM Vote
After throwing bags for a summer a few years back I can say that $24 is insane! The job requires no skill what so ever, in fact high school drop outs could be considered over qualified for the job. Baggage handler is not meant to be a career option yet for some reason air canada has made it into one...

Re: Newer Hires, How much time did you have?
Just curious who had a aviation diploma versus a regular four year degree?
I know that it is almost 100% regular 4 year at US major airlines

CPL options
I was looking at the best option for getting my commercial license. I currently have 2 years left until I finish my university degree. After that I was trying to decide whether to go to a one or two year aviation program or whether to just get my CPL on my own. Would an aviation diploma add to my re...

Re: Hypothetical Question about AC - CCAA again or Liquidate
Air Canada will be around for a long long time yet, it is in Canada's national interest At any price ? You still think that the average tax payer will endorse pouring money into this blackhole ? Your Koolaid is WAY too concentred.. Just add more water to it  Work for the best to happen, b...

Re: Hypothetical Question about AC - CCAA again or Liquidate
True, Jazz is the one that serves alot of the communities in Canada. However that is on Air Canada's dime. Jazz recieves a guarenteed income from AC to operate those flights, im not sure about Jazz but US regionals are guarenteed not to take a loss even if the flight was empty. They are Jazz aircraf...

Re: Hypothetical Question about AC - CCAA again or Liquidate
The Canadian government would not let Air Canada shut its doors! Not only would they not want to see 35,000 direct jobs(many more indirect) disipear overnight. But Air Canada provides a national service that westjet does not. Westjet only flies to a few places that are popular and profitable. Air Ca...

Jazz Aircraft
I was just curious what is the deal with the Jazz aircraft now that they are seperate from AC. Expressjet now seperate from Continental does not own the rights to their aircraft, they remain Continental property that is being "borrowed" by expressjet. Is it the same situation at AC and Jazz? This ma...

Pilots with AME?
I was wondering how much of a differance it would make if a pilot also had all the AME stuff done too? Would that make a big differance in getting good pilot jobs at a good Bush outfit?

5 years too late. Embrarer has been killing the quebecois plane makers for sometime now....Not sure the tory governement is into giving out anymore freebies to prop them up unlike the last corrupt liberal gov ...Looks like a cool plane though, but whose gunna buy it? Re: Air Canada's unions ready to 'Walk the Line in '09'
There is alternative domestic service on most routes and certainly 100% of the destinations that AC serves within Canada. Similarly, there are alternatives to AC to arrive at transborder and international destinations . It is Jazz that is the sole service provider using AC code to many medium and s...
