Re: Young A330 FO
Its the North American way in most industries... anything to make a buck... look at the IT industry now as well, import from overseas and pay min wage while there are thousands of qualified workers already here, but demand more pay.... pilots are different, they'll do almost anything for almost free...

Re: Jazz laying off
I wouldn't think there would be much difference between EI on 50K vs 35K you can only collect up to a "maximum" amount anyways as far as I know... and it weighs on various factors such as wehn you last collected, have you worled enough hours to receive max benefits etc etc... Jazz can't really tell ...

Re: Jazz laying off
I predict oil will come crashing down to the $100 barrel (love how I say down to...) It is just a big bubble like the dot com and housing etc. The emerging economies are reducing their fuel subsidies these days and their citizens will cut back big time once they pay realistic fuel prices. Watch thi...

Re: I thought american beer didn't count
Ahhh but as far as I know the company *DID* forward the information onto relevant sources (TC) and the culprits were indeed suspended in time by TC... sorry if there was a misunderstanding there :) If a company were aware of a situation and did not deal with it accordingly yes, then there is an issu...

Re: I thought american beer didn't count
I never said they were boring... I find it rather interesting , but at the same time amusing how threads on here always seem to wander... by all means this is a serious issue, and I am not going to judge on how things were/are dealt with at this particular company, thats their business...(I guess no...

The greatest and newest study says that 5 pieces of dark chocolate lowers blood pressure... next they will say that eating a pound of butter a day will lower fat levels 90%.... Donald, Yes I agree, but just MAYBE the captain would have thought twice about what he was doing. And maybe the copilot wou...

All I know is the world will be a better place when the "Keystones" of aviation are gone.. Oh wait... doesn't EVERY operation have a little Keystone in em... No one runs a perfect operation, rules get bent, and interpreted the way the Ops Manager deems fit for the situation... we've all seen it.. pa...

Re: global report on pilot flight duty times
Its about time this F'n stupid rule gets squashed... how anyone thinks anyone is legitamately alert after even 12 hours is on crack... It will take 5 planes to crash in a week and kill a thousand people for TC even looks at changing this rule... A 14 hour day is OK if its only 1 day, its when compan...

Re: Manitoba medevac company going international?
Ever since the "fund" took these guys over its a bunch of people with no concept of aviation calling the shots. A perfectly good company has been destroyed. I heard through a friend that Kistigan is taking a good beating to them with the 1900 vs the Dash just because they are never there on time, an...

I get the impression from alot of guys its like this. I've heard countless stories about guys who finally "make it" to a major. Its all good for the first 100 hours.. hey look at me sitting in a jet at FL370.. then reality sinks in, and its the same old as before... except instead of coming home at ...

Car dealer to pilot.. no idea what he's up against...
Just a quick story on how people think this is such an easy career to get into.. My father took his car in for servicing the other day, started chatting with the customer service rep and found out it was his last day... he just finished his MIFR (a 200 hour wonder) and I guess was starting a flying ...

Pushing this topic a little further.... I find the fact that we can "legally" be pushed 14-15 hours a day ridiculous... I personally think its the stupidest F'n rule around... Honestly guys and gals how safe are you coming onto the 12th or 13th hour flying in IMC all day, doing approaches down to mi...

Part of (or the main problem) of serving these remote $hitholes on a scheduled basis is the fact that 90% of the time 1/2 the people booked never show. Unlike large operators where you have a pre purchased ticket, these operators are pretty well book yourself a seat and maybe show up and pay dependi...

If you think Borek sucks, talk to a Perimeter pilot! Countless months on the ramp, pays less then a Mickey D's employee even once your flying. I hear the pilots there have been without a contract coming 7 months now.. managment keeps altering flight blocks as they deem fit.. rumor is there's ALOT of...
