Re: Flair in hot water with the CRA
Wow, that was some interview on BNN with SJ. 10 minutes of reiterating how he has brought low fares to Canada. But yet how many passengers has he inconvenienced in the making. Maybe it’s just me but airfare on the 2 majors in this country has only risen, and thier planes are full and for the most pa...

Re: Should I go to Jazz?
Hi, looking for some advice. I am a 750 hour ATR FO working in northern Canada. My schedule is pretty good, I have the opportunity to work 12 days a month, can do 2 on, 2 off or a week and a week, whatever I basically want as long as it follows CARs regs. I'm building about 60-80 hours a month. I a...

Re: Fall 2023 Hiring Update
As far as worrying about a ground school date, if you don’t have accommodations and flair doesn’t provide you with a hotel for the entire time during your training, I would seriously consider looking elsewhere for employment. They can afford shiny new jets, they can afford hotels while you get yours...

Re: Negotiations
It’s all part of the plan. They know exactly what they’re doing and how the shuffle affects the employees. If I had to guess , AC will continue to put metal on jazz routes going forward if they can’t keep up. It will all change again in several years. It always does.

Re: New pay scale Aug 1 Dash and E2
If it wasn’t for WJ ALPA recently signing a significant deal, including the elimination of swoop, I highly doubt that Porter would be comming to their pilots with this new benchmark. That’s why it’s called a benchmark. Typical Canadian pilots slamming other Canadian pilots. congrats to th...

Re: Westjet ad.
Drop tanks, you really bring down avcanada with posts such as your last one. I see it’s now gone now. Great. Any how you should do a bit of research on pension plans. More then half of private sector workers in Canada do not have pension plans, and for the ones that do, they still must put away mone...
Re: One List
Wow, sounds as if the westjet world is going to end. This sounds like a management problem. Key word is “manage”. This isn’t a pilot problem. Although there are less pilots supplying the market for the demand right now, This is just a redistribution game of pilots that will be over one day. The end ...

Re: Bearskin info
Wow. Unfortunate they went this route for in contract 6 Lowering the bar for new hires while protecting the top and the current roster at the time. Creating a divided group with a protected pay scale. 2012 FO started at $30.00. Jump to 2020. 8 years later guys planned to start at a $31.00 No wonder ...

Re: Bearskin info
Going back a few years ago in 2015 captain pay started at $60.97 and topped out at $95.56 FO pay started at $34.52 and topped out at 42.45 80 hr guarantee. Blocked around that or higher with about 20% of that being credit time. Again this was a few years ago could have changed a bit from then They h...

Re: This a bad idea or just me? Water Rudder locked to the f
I don't think it's a bad idea. If your worried about not being able to lower the rudders when you need them (which is highly unlikely this would happen) you can always use sailing techniques to control the airplane. I haven't seen this stc but It sounds like a good idea. Sometimes bags or jackets ca...

Re: Which will get me a better job?
I would suggest the Confed program, it is a bush oriented program that has more to offer then most schools. During your training you'll get your 25 hrs on floats as well as a ski checkout on a 180. If you decide to further your career into airlines you'll have the required education. Many bush opera...

Re: I wana start somthing in the bush !
I like the idea of flying pizza and KFC! Could you legally do that? With say a 172 up in northern Manitoba. If you cant answer that question yourself then I dont think you can run a business. You can fly whatever you want. the plane would be chartered and the food would be paid for. Why dont you go...

Re: I wana start somthing in the bush !
get a small float plane and start minnow trapping. Privatly registered and maintained. Once you aquire the aircraft you'll only make money when you find the right location/market.
