Lots of stuff I would expect a private pilot to know: ie where is class B airspace located, what is the definition of a high performance a/c. No Part 7 questions at all. CP, PNR, C of G as % of MAC are there. Some radio aid questions. ISA aloft. SPROG, high level wx (jetstream, turbulance) If you ha...

and realize that you may be able to fly (fam flights, sightseeing, IFR & floats if you have the experience) without even obtaining the instructor rating. Some good thoughts Pugster, but the above statement is not entirely true. To do fam flights you do require an instructor rating as it is consider...

It is being worked on - but of course the more people working on it the better - so if you have an extra time, that's probably better than money. The executive board will be elected soon, in the meantime the money is being held by the same person who runs AvCanada and at this time is going toward ru...

Special CAAP meeting
I would like to invite everyone involved with CAAP to a special meeting Monday March 14 2005 at 10:00pm EST (200503150300Z). The primary focus is what can CAAP do with respect to training bonds and the Jetsgo situation. Other topics will include updates from various departments such as the website, ...

This has been a relativly intelligent discussion  The link for Canada's "association" is http://www.caap-apac.ca . The site is obviously under construction (and the organization as well for that matter). But please take the time to view the forums and post your thoughts on what you would like ...

I do have sympathy for everyone at JG. Hopefully this will be a productive lesson about buying bonds. For anyone who has some thoughts about what CAAP should do (other than "something") please take the time to post your suggestions and help out if able. http://www.caap-apac.ca/modules.php?name=Forum...

Unfortunatly, this topic has degraded into a shouting match. On Wednesday night, names were named in this thread against the policies of AvCanada. In addition, several of the posts were deemed to be libelous. As such, I have edited this thread to leave in fact only. Hopefully, there is enough inform...

20%Vso if no figure is given in the POH is a way to estimate the DCC. The DCC is not a "limitation" as it does not appear in Part 2 of the POH. The DCC is "the maximum xwind component an average pilot could handle using an average xwind technique and an aeroplane with average maintenaince in average...

RSC, Was under the impression that the heat from carb heat more than offset the cooling effect of enritchening the mixture. Also, you would be cooling it gently compaired to the shock cooling that would occuring in the event of an overshoot. Let me know if you disagree. Cat, I thought carb heat came...

The other factor to consider is that carb heat is not just for carb ice. It is also to keep the engine warm. For instance, if you are descending at -20C, if you don't turn on carb heat to keep the engine warm, the engine will cool extremely quickly (of course, you would plan ahead and do a power on ...
