The problem for instructors is that a student with incomplete nav aid knowledge is more dangerous than one with none. You don't ever want to produce a pilot who thinks they know more than they actually do, so you have to choose between teaching them nothing about the navs or everythng, and how do yo...

The CFI is extremely protective of his citabria (I think mostly because he likes flying upside down himself) and it's based out of a rather unforgiving airport. The kinda place TC doesn't usually let FTUs set up at, so they are very careful to make sure students can handle the kind of erradic winds ...

johnny, I'll agree that the article you've posted has a reactionary "the world is ending" feel to it. However that one only refers briefly to the study I mentioned. The original study was, if I recall correctly, based on apparently good science from a reputable source. I'll do my best to find the li...

One of the additional environmental concerns with a/c is the location of the emitions. Post 9/11 was the only time they were able to get a decent idea of what the immediate impact of planes was. While the airspace was shut down temperature fluctuations were abnormal. Day time temps were a few degree...

Any time factual information can be provided for families this is a good thing. Court cases based on incomplete information can be excrutiating. There is currently a local family who is having to endure the court case of their son's alleged murderer, listening everyday to lawyers claiming that the d...

The best way to find out is to call the Barrie base. They don't have phone service up at the lake but the instructor calls down to Barrie most days to get messages. You can find the phone number at futureair.com I believe. If that doesn't work PM me. I've got it somewhere I'm sure.

Got a nice patch of what looks like road rash across my cheekbone, plus a two inch gash running down my cheek. I'm greatful I didn't lose an eye but now I look like an abused woman. I didn't even realize I had four quills in me until I went to wash up after having to pull quills out of my Doberman/G...

I agree with the "ride a bike, get a smaller car" arguments but how does one mesh that philosophy with aviation? Am I the only tree hugger here who feels guilty for my profession? And why is aviation so darn slow to adopt eco-friendly(er) technology? (besides the expense to profit margin issues.) Ma...

Hey Rowdy,
Are you willing to share the recipe for your miracle concoction for scars? Not that mine are anywhere near as sympathy worthy as yours but a recent porcupine incident left a couple marks that I'd rather not have to continue explaining to everyone.
