Re: Apprentice experience
Back when CARS were still Air Regs they stated that you could do your apprenticeship on foreign reg Aircraft, but you did need to complete 6 months on Canadian Reg. before you could write your exams. (The route I took incidently.) As for the Experimental category, I haven't looked recently but Back ...

Re: Major Repair or Major Modification?
Dictionary: Repair - fix; mend, make ammends for modification - change or limit slightly Modification I would assume from a TC stand point is a change to the original design of the product. ie a ski tray in the tail section of a Beaver, Change of the Engine type of Piston to Turbine. Repair - So rep...

Re: Hourly AME wage
The last three shops I took my 4 . to before I sold it was shop rate of 106/hour and I never saw a bill for under 2,500. I got rid of that 4X4 in a hurry! Not to mention the Gas consumption driving to Springbank every day from Calgary. I was spending close to 500 a month on Gas not to mention 1000/m...

My sources is the opposite with Airco, The maintenance side is not a walkthrough closet like some shops especially in the Edmonton Region. Re: Am I allowed to?
If all your concerned about is the cost ask your AME if They would let you do the baffles then have the AME check and verify your work (Kind of an intro to Aprentiod life!) I am sure if your AME hasn't a problem with Showing you what to do, and how to do it you could do it yourself, under loose supe...

Re: annual inspection - questions
Strega Yes, sometimes can be a gray area here. I have had some DOMs say if anything fails the Annual inspection ie find a bald tire, and owner doesn't want to change it, then you don't sign off the Annual.(Bit of a lame example but you get the idea!) Then I have worked for other DOM's who say you si...

Yes, sometimes you run into the planes that have had major modifications carried out by some one that should not have. Like a non certified Wipline door on a 206 with no STC or any supporting documents other then this piece taken from wreck so and so this piece taken from another wreck different mod...

Office: Most AMO/AME's see several different Aircraft in a week, if you took the Aircraft into an AMO to have the Annual done the work is usually assigned to the person who will do the Annual. If that said person, (Experienced Apprentice, or AME) is unaware of what AD's, SB's..... Are due at the Ann...
