Re: Pilot vs. Doctor Pay

This is from another forum but i like how he sums it up...... As an airline pilot, I would spend many hours a week working for the airline I was employed by. I really enjoyed the job, the pilots and other airline personnel I worked with, so in many days this helped a 14 hour duty day fly by. The ave...

Re: Calls for upcming courses

Hi Dave,

I was wondering if you might be able to shed some light on the experience of pilots that you have hired for the Sept/Oct groundschools? Airline/Corp/Commuter/Shuttle.......you know....that type of stuff.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Air Canada Interviews

Q: Why does Air Canada interview and hire the people that they do??? A: At Air Canada they hire for today and tommorow. They are looking for people that fill an age requirement in the roster. They look at the current age of their pilots and what age they will be in 10, 20, 30 years. They dont want a...

Re: Where to report Flight School violations

From another forum: Do you know that when you see a pilot, he's not being paid? When you see a pilot going through the same security you go through, he's not being paid. When you see a pilot walking in the terminal, he's not being paid. When you see a pilot at the gate pulling up paper work, plannin...

Re: Edmonton City Centre Airport (CYXD) Update

I have always been curious as to why nobody has gone to the federal government to have this site designated a historical monument?? Correct me if i am wrong but wasnt it the first certified airfield in Canada? If it was designated a historical site, like a building, would it not have to be preserved...

Re: Hiring Freeze at WJA?

Hi Dave,

I just have a quick question. Im a little confused as to why there have been company wide offers of LOA's to pilots but yet they might still be having G/S's in the fall. Is this an effort to save money?

Re: -Kelowna Flightcraft Minimum-

There are many ways to get your foot in the door. As far as being a Captain on a transport catagory aircraft; you need an ATPL. Look in the AIM lra section or CARs for ATPL requirements. As far as the time required, most airlines upgrade based on time at the company, and most airline companies requi...

Flygirl, Dont be afraid to ask questions. Ask as many as you need to understand what you need to know. Always be learning and good luck in your career. KFC is a good place to find a career. If you get on, and stay on youll be working for one of the most stable companies in Canada and in 5-10 years b...

Re: Single pilots

Miss Scarlet, It is very noble of you to come here for information on how to meet an airline pilot. Generally, any airline pilot is the same. A swagger in the way he walks, great stories about all the places he has been, broad shoulders to carry that massive ego around, the three ex wives that he fo...

Suluko is bang-on.

After you have recieved any ui payments and when you do get a job again, and are making a decent wage, that the taxman claws back a percentage depending on how large your new pay is.

Re: Laser beam hits WestJet pilot in the eye on Calgary takeoff

When mistakes are made they should be a learning tool. This is not the first time that there has been a problem onboard and the flight has continued to the destination instead of landing when they should have. That makes it a policy and not an exception. The flying public might not be aware that you...

Re: Laser beam hits WestJet pilot in the eye on Calgary takeoff

Common sense AND safety would dictate that you land at the nearest suitable airport in the event of a crew member incapacitaion. I guess the difference for me is safety first. Common sense second. The safety of the people onboard will always come before anything else.
