De Havilland contemplates stretched, shrunken Dash 8-400

https://www.skiesmag.com/news/de-havill ... ash-8-400/

While a new "Q300" seems to be something there is a market for, does anyone really think stretching this thing further is a good idea? 100 seats is a long Dash.

Re: Harbour Air switching to battery powered planes

So far advertised as good for a 30 minute sight seeing flight with reserves. I get electricity is cheaper than avgas, but I gotta figure that sight seeing flight won't be cheap. Also I don't remember what the charge time was after such a flight. Wonder how many they can actually accomplish in a day?...

Re: New North Star Basler Accident

Is it just me, or do the ads that pop up between every post make this site almost unusable? Flew over the sight yesterday. About 300 meters south of the threshold for 08? Headed 80 or so degrees to the south. Nowhere near lined up. Freight can wait. Illya Just put AdGuard on my iPhone. All ads gone...

Re: Dash-8 Runway Excursion

Yeesh that sounds like a sim ride where the examiner is out to get you. "Oh and your brakes don't work" perfect example of you can't breif for everything. Sounds like they did the best they could on the spot though. I'd have to agree about differential reverse. Probably "easier said than done" if it...

I can see it if the aircraft isn't certified for single pilot I suppose. Or if it's an actual medical emergency. However, "Kenora radio just a heads up my FO is more useless than usual due to a migraine" seems...odd lol

So a grounding without it being an "official" grounding of the fleet (Complete with press conferences) instead, Inspect before you fly next.

Re: Operating different machines.

BALLS, GGGQ. You are cherry-picking just as outrageously as anyone else. Weight limits? Load restrictions? Road atlas? 75 foot vehicle? Hazmat? Load security? Winter ops? Fatigue? Dunnage? Come on. I was talking about "differences", not "Things That Are Exactly The Same". So what if you don't know ...

Cat Driver , I want to start by apologizing for my comment about the hollowed-out watermelon. I was drinking after work (flying planes) and it seemed like a funny comment to make at the time. I've been thinking about your question, and I believe the truth can be found by breaking things down into d...

Re: Jazz to launch pay for type rating program

Ok let's phrase this a better way. Everyone seems to be saying that working in challenging, minimally supervised roles up north with "no support" builds good decision making cause you've seen your share of emergencies etc. To me that says we do this completely backwards. New pilots should have to go...

truck or bus? We're pilots.
I drove haul truck pulling wood and I'll tell ya the stress level was higher on the winter Bush roads than driving any aeroplane.
Oof yeah absolutely. Never did logs. Did flat deck through northern Ontario for a bit though. That was a rough winter.

Re: Operating different machines.

Currently the approach feels harder to me. Probably because I'm 250 hrs into charter flying vs 7 years at 600,000 miles in a semi. Or Maybe it's cause only that captain has the Hsi/CDI on his side makes the scan kinda lopsided lol.

Re: Operating different machines.

Having done both I would say the concentration used during an IMC approach (no autopilot) is roughly the same as switching lanes down a 5 lane across highway during heavy traffic in a semi. Accordingly driving on cruise down the interstate for hours at a time pretty much the same as the cruise porti...

Are you still guaranteed a job at mainline? As far as I read it, flow is indefinitely on hold and with the one list voted down there is no agreement at this point. I have faith for 2020. Here's hoping. Not stirring the pot with that post. Honestly wasn't sure. A lot of people assuming it's all good...

The article also doesn't understand math. "How do you cut emissions in half if your business is set to double?" By cutting it in half. It remains at 2% instead of climbing to 4% they've still reduced emissions 50%
