Re: AME for VAL ?
I see no need for you to be an ass over this, the man was just looking for some information which is what this forum is all about. Interesting though how people will argue at length with the idiot on here who can't handle the fact that the word engineer has more than one meaning but when a fellow is...

Re: Knipex tools
I've ordered a lot of Knipex tools from chadstoolbox.com. Plier wrenches are the most popular but the cobra plier is also an amazing tool, you'll never want to use a channel lock plier again. The needle nose pliers they make are also incredibly well made.

Re: dealing with inept manager
SMS is a joke. I've seen it used more than once to cover up willfully neglegent errors that have caused aircraft to nearly pile up. Only the skill of the pilot and sh*thouse luck kept people from being killed.

Re: Worst engine in aviation
Let's use the new thread created to discuss the engineer debate, and no pilots shouldn't be called bus drivers. Bus drivers have a more difficult job.

Re: THE OFFICIAL Is an AME and Engineer thread
When someone asks me what I do my reply is aircraft mechanic, everyone I've told that to has a general idea of what I do with that reply. I don't care what we are called as long as my credentials are given the recognition they deserve.

Re: Worst engine in aviation
Do we have to get into this again? Aircraft Maintenace Engineer is a term borrowed from English aviation nomenclature and is used in many commonwealth countries. Anyways I think the bloke that started this thread was interested in engines.

Maybe he should read the original topic of this thread, what a moron. Him and rfc pilot should be banned from here.

Re: Exact Oil Temperature
"And for checking the low temp. end of the probe you just shove it up your ass and leave it there for a minute or so....if it reads 98.6 F. when you remove it, it is accurate at the low end also."
So could you reference your calibrated ass when you sign out the work?

Well there are 2 topics here that seem to get the most attention. Tools and Wages. I think tools are mostly subjective depending on what type of work you do and personal preference. I've had a few pow wows on the hangar floor over which tools are the best but at the end of the day it comes down to w...

Well I don't know much about working in the US. I would like to point out though that AME schools seem to have a hard time filling the seats these days so I would take what you heard on the news with a bit of scepticism. Also if you plan to work overseas for your apprenticeship make sure that someon...

Nobody contributing to this changes the oil in their (ground) vehicles? Keeps snow tires on rims ready for winter? Resets their engine check lights with a cheap OBD tool? And on and on. I didn't think so. Well ok I do service the ground equipment, got snow tires ready to go and have an OBD tool and...

I think its either a maintenace related problem at the operators who've had "uncontrolled" landings or possibly a problem with a certain batch of material used in the construction. To target the whole fleet as unsafe is just not fair, horizon fly's the wings off the things and hasn't had a problem y...

Well I havn't seen any recent posts on here about them(correct me if i'm wrong). It is always possible that a company has changed and that is more or less what I was interested in. Maybe the bad rap they have within the biz has forced a change in the company or maybe not. I'd like to work overseas s...

Voyageur Overseas
First off I'm not looking to bash the company with this thread, since I've never worked for them and don't personally know anyone who has. All I have to go on is the very negative things said about them on here. More to the point I noticed they are advertising for overseas positions again and I thou...

I've seen my fair share of good ame's leave the biz in the last year or so. The main reason is the amount of money paid compared to the crap one has to deal with on the job. Myself I'm getting tired of going above and beyond only to get told my pay is above par, which is crap since I don't know any ...
