Re: Employer Refusing To Give References ??

The fact that Airlines want references from your present employer is BS in my mind. They are so naive in the airline world sometimes. Let me tell you that the days of your current employer being "happy for you" that an airline might hire you and there fore cost them 10 grand are gone. They left 3 y...

Re: Zoom Air drops Edmonton

Nice job ERAA! Once again showing how they mislead the people of Edmonton. That consolidation would make YEG a major hub. Continental Airlines pulled out just a little while ago now Zoom. Even during the "boom" times and with YEG the fastest growing airport in the Universe as according to ERAA. Peo...

Yup, winds gusting to 50 will do that in a dry part of the country.

Re: Deicing Single Engine Cessnas

Are there any fluids approved by Cessna for deicing? From what I understand, no. 50/50 isopropyl alcohol and water in a chemical sprayer works pretty well for frost and light ice. Correct. It works pretty well when it's moderately cold out, but when its really cold, it'll just freeze along with eve...

The problem is that night XC. Who wants to do that in a single engine? its nuts I tell ya! Have fun Why not? I've got 21.3 hours night XC PIC and am just a little ways past 135 TT. I've been advised repeatedly to get this out of the way during my commercial build-up. My problem is that FBO's in Alb...

You need 10 instrument hours for a night rating as well (you can credit your 5 from the PPL.) That's where the 15 comes in.

Oh yes, Lethbridge passengers flying to YXD certainly threaten YEG's ability to get more U.S. and international non-stop flights. I'm certain every Lethbridge passenger flying to the U.S. would connect in Edmonton if it were available to them.

all the bitching from everyone aside I recommend that you put the money that you are going to spend on a twin and put it all towards flying as much as you can in something as cheap as possible. PIC in general is everything and you would be better off with 150 hours of extra PIC then 50 hours of mul...

Also flying VFR is a skill in itself, one well worth cultivating. I recommend time builders go on a big cross country trip. If you want to time build in November go to Florida and back. I guarantee you will learn a ton of real world flying lessons and be alot better for it. Better yet, night cross-...

Also, I know of at least one flight school that will give you a free DC headset if you put a certain amount up front towards flight training. Never ever give a flight school money up front. Just wondering as to the reason. Is it ok after your happy with the school or never give money upfront as a r...

I must say, I'm astonished that any FTU at YYC can charge any kind of reasonable rate with the $25 landing fee over there.

I did my steep turns on my 6th hour, the reason im asking this question is because most ppl told me they did their solo around that hour. -Moe I think whoever told you that is full of it. 8) For my 10th hour, I was doing my pre-solo supervision flight with a Class 2. Haha. You realize that an air force pilot flies about 5-10 hours a month right. I've seen their profiles, oh fukn 13 years in the air force with only 800 hours total. The rest of the time you do paperwork, if not worse, a "coffee bitch". To an extent. From what I've been told, they fly a desk and r...

I think you should keep working and pay as you go. I've been told by several instructors that it is the right thing to do. If you have no debt, you will be far better off when you finally go to seek out that all-important first job. Just make sure that you prepare yourself for the drastic pay cut yo...
