Re: What Am I Obligated to Show TC
So what I am getting is that if I arrive at a routine checkstop and I am asked to produce my drivers license I don't have to unless the officer has reason to believe I'm breaking the law? When I'm coming back into Canada and a customs agent asks to see my passport I am not required to produce it bec...

Re: What Am I Obligated to Show TC
Ask for id and cooperate. Why make things harder than they need to be? Put yourself, in their shoes, and act the way you would like to be treated. It is exactly like a police checkstop for the air. If you challenge the officer they will just keep you there longer and look that much harder for someth...

Re: Flight helmet
Any idea if the export ban will be lifted anytime soon, or if there is anyway to go about shipping international? I wouldn't mind taking a trip to San Diego (aka a whales v@gin@) but it seems kinda wasteful just to pick it up.

Club/School in YZF?
What's the scoop on this, heard that a couple guys are close to starting up again in Yellowknife with a couple C172 and a Piper or Mooney?
Apparently this has been in the works for a year or so, would appreciate any info.

No, I'd rather guess where my destination is and point the nose roughly in that direction, 40% of the time it works evertime. If you're at an altitude appropriate for direction of flight it shouldn't be a huge problem, at least no nose to nose, for the rest a good lookout, good postion reports and T...

The $55 is stupid to say the least. I just make sure I get a new one each time now because DAMN IT! it's my right as a taxpayer and a flying monkey. Just another case of your government inaction. As for the doc fees, I've got a good one and am willing to pay more then he charges as long as he...

Easy Cat, it sounds like Cruisecontrol was trying to crack a joke about about those of us that learned to fly when AC was gliding their new 767 fleet and the DC3 was a thing you only read about in movies. If he (or she) wants to teach more than the basics in the instructor guide and can do so withou...

rfcpilot there are exceptions to every rule and a practice area would be one of them. No one should enter unless they are a participant and if they are training there chances are there is either an instructor on board or they know the area well enough to understand what the othe a/c are talking abou...

Sorry it did look like that came across as harsh and we welcome your company here and appreciate what you're trying to do, you don't need to be a pilot to belong to this forum but FrankD does have a point every interesting news item doesn't need to be posted here no matter what the intent is. One thing left to consider is if the move towards cockpit video recorders were to go through will the air operators, TSB or other agencies be able to protect them from the public or media or will some wonder of the courts force them to be released to those other than stakeholders. Somebody has forgo...

Impressions of the Garmin 496?
Just wondering how many of you G196-396 users have had a chance to try one of these out? Is the price tag worth the added features even though the wx info and xm radio still aren't available here?

There is a difference between doing and teaching, you can be a great pilot but the worst instructor in the world, it's a matter of being able to explain, demonstrate and relate the information to the student in a manner they can understand. You don't need to have thousands of hours to be a good ab-i...

Thanks guys, was kinda hoping the would be a consolidated list, but right now it looks like individual airports and schools would be the best place to look. I know the feeling Elessar_44, was 17 when I got my license and flew to my first, made the mistake of leaving it in the plane and some 12 year ...

Sorry, no joy on the KB info. To instruct or not to that is the question, depends if you have the rating or not, the type of instruction you are looking at conducting (single v. mult), on what type (single v. multi), how many hours you can expect from this rather than through a charter company, whet...

List of Fly-ins?
Just wondering if anyone know where I could find a list of fly-ins throughout Canada this year? There are lots of them listed but the info is usually all scattered around.
