Re: Commuting by air to my flying job

No mention here that your $60K truck is worth $40K a year later and your plane is still worth pretty much what you paid for it. And for those that own(ed) a 6 ltr. ford diesel all know what it's like to spend $5K on head gaskets at 100,000 - 120,000kms. My concerns would be to purchase the plane wit...

Re: Commuting by air to my flying job

I flew my float plane to an Island where I was working for a buddy doing masonry work. After the first week he asked me not to fly... took me .5 from my house or almost 1.5 by truck with a 20 minute boat ride in there. Asked why? Said the owner we were working for accused him of over charging if his...

Iridium Sat Phone

Does anyone have a SIM CARD for an Iridium that has minutes that will run out before you use them up? This happens to me every year, so thought I'd try to find one with a month or 2 left before I buy one for 6 months and need it for 2 only to have all the minutes expire. Northern Lights or better wo...

Re: Float Plane Insurance

Got a 180 on floats that I will be selling or looking for a partner. I am CPL and will be bringing it home from Northern Quebec. 10 hours flying time right there. Sometimes it takes a day, sometimes a week. Will be doing this sometime in late Aug. Get 10 hours in the plane and decide if it is a 180 ...

Not older than 72 but I sure like to see him show up at the dock at camp every summer. He is a great role model and an awesome individual. Wish him the best in continuing the traditions. Thanks, Johnny.

Re: Bush plane capable of carrying ATVs?

If it hasn't already been mentioned, not homebuilt but Single otter will do it and there are some amphib ones around. Once this person goes and gets a pilots lic. he will better understand the costs involved to own and operate an aircraft to do this specific job and if that doesn't scare him.... I w...

Thinking about it, I've bought 100LL by the drum and had it delivered to the lake in Matagami if that is anywhere close to your location.

Re: Getting quantities of AVGAS for Hunting Camp

$700.00 / drum incl. $50.00 deposit... so $3.17 / ltr last summer in YVP My pump is GPI, not sure what make the filter is, but electric is way better than "wobble" pumps, unless you're talking about a couple of drums. If it's for the season then electric is the way to go and a small solar panel will...

Positive Experience

I had posted an ad with Avcanada looking for an AME to do an annual on my C180 in a remote location. I would like to thank all that inquired. In the end, I have just had my annual completed and more than happy with the engineer that showed up. Very professional, very thorough and a very positive exp...

Re: best plane for 4 people

My vote would be the Cherokee Six, 182 or 206 but the Cessna will be right there at the top of your budget whereas you can get into a PA32 for a bit under $100K.... Reason, your growing family will not out grow it, even if the kids get to be over six feet tall, especially the six with easy, low wing...

Re: Going lease rates

I've been away at camp for the past 7 or 8 weeks and appreciate the feedback. Unfortunately I ran out of time to do anything for this year as I started my research too late. Is there anyone out there offering a 6-8 week lease with 100 hr. minimum?

FS: Iridium Sim Cards

I have 2 Sim Cards for Iridium Satellite phones. One has 200 minutes remaining and the other has 178. Both are activated and ready to use with no additional fees. Northern Lights package, so good for all of Northern Canada and AK. $1.00 / per minute. Expires Feb. 20th, but minutes can be added at yo...

Re: Performance upgrade kits C-180

get it light, then vgs, stol, wing-x, and hp are pretty much listed in order of cost. But if you cannot budget for the hp go for wing-x but when you have the wings open get bigger tanks if you are flying in the north. Mine only has 27.5 USG / side and not always quite enough to get to where there is...
