Ant ideas how to tackle the exam and flight test in the least amount of money

I understand that. But both planes are high performance but only the the M600 ask for a type rating.

ST-360 altitude pre selecect
Im trying to get my ST-360 pre select altitude capture by the stec55x .I cannot get the ALT and VS to activate at the same time. So I keep busting altitudes cause the autopilot is not capturing the altitude. Any suggestions.
