Re: Westjet mainline commuting

If you are hired for swoop, that is where you will be for at least 2 years. As of right now, I believe there is no commuting policy for Swoop, it is only at Mainline and Encore. As for positions, that have come up. There is approximately 50 Encore positions for flow this year (Between Mainline and S...

Re: How's morale with uncertainty of the one list?

Although every morale compass I have whole hearty disagrees with weedpro, I will agree in this instance. When a arbitrator sits with a company, they mediate/arbitrate with that company and will make a discussion point for that said company. In this Case, Mr Kaplan is dealing with WestJet and will on...

Thanks!

PS: Does Encore still do the presentation thing as part of the interview process or did they scrap that idea?
That has been out of the WestJet system for quite some time.

How many sectors do Encore pilots fly on a typical pairing?
Well, it all depends on the day/pairing. If you end up on a heavy 4 day, you may end up flying 4 - 5 legs a day, or you can have the opposite where you'll Deadhead one leg and or operate one leg a day.

Re: US CBP Landing Rights

I landed in south central US one day and asked for a permit to proceed. The lady looked at me sideways and says "why does everyone always request those, you don't need them", so I politely asked "what do you mean?" She then goes on a rant about how they only apply to cargo operations, and not passen...

They couldn't fill all the seats for upgrade, so they are now going to be re-listing the Captains Ad.

Re: Captain Upgrade Times

As mentioned, YYZ is fully staffed now whereas YYC is short. The last bid had 20 YYC upgrades and none in YYZ.

Upgrade will be a minimum of 6 months, potentially longer as many FO's are ahead of you and meet the requirements now. As for a training position, that is anyones guess.

Being bottom of the list doesn't mean bottom of the company. There are guys that are 737 f/o's at mainline that are below right seat on the Q on the list. I t might be a viable career decision to go to Swoop at the bottom of the list (behind current Encore pilots) and accrue 737 time . While also g...

I haven't looked at the T222 form in quite some time, but if memory serves me correct you can claim those expenses with that form.

Your employer is required to sign and fill it out so hopefully they can help you out.

Guys, the strike mandate is just that. A tool to leverage a better bargaining position. In my time at Jazz back in the day, they got a 98% mandate and negotiations took off. Once the government stepped in and said you will be regulated back, the company took the equivalent of $15 mil off the table. ...

Re: Did we reach the next phase of the pilot shortage?

To an extent, yes, but many are leaving just because they don't want to instruct for a career. A lot of people get tired of it and I understand why. I takes a lot of patience to constantly watch someone else fly your aircraft, making mistakes, while you resist the urge to take control because they ...

There was a US company that used to post job ads on this site about 10 years ago. There posting was a job posting for exactly what you were asking about. They got themselves banned form this site due to the members infuriated. Ask yourself this. "If I spend $70,000+ to get a job that will give me 50...
