Re: VFR in IMC - Kasper Aviation

Here are a few things to keep in mind when flying VFR in a control zone: There is no minimum reported ceiling for VFR flight in a control zone. It is left up to the pilot to ensure he can maintain at least 500 ft below cloud and legal altitude above ground regardless of the METAR reported ceiling. ...

Re: VFR in IMC - Kasper Aviation

http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/SOR-96-433/FullText.html#s-602.114 Looks like the VFR weather minimum rules still talk about distances from clouds. I must say I'm surprised this was a debatable point. I didn't think I'd need to dig out the CAR, I was expecting an "oh right". Cover yo...

Re: VFR in IMC - Kasper Aviation

Seems like the most obvious point is missing. In a control zone you have to be 500' below cloud and 1 mile horizontal. If you're allowed to fly at 300' you'd need 800'... Unless you request SVFR then clear of cloud is the requirement. Just because NavCanada bases their not letting you in the zone wi...

Re: What rating do I need to fly King Air 200?

Not all King Air 200s are high performance so at this stage you are legally able to fly the non high performance ones. For the rest, you'll need a type rating. Start by writing the IATRA, then find an experienced King Air pilot to check you out on type. Submit the paperwork to TC and you will get B...

Re: DC X11

I have had the X11 for about 4 years. I have had to send it back twice and each time gotten a brand new set. The first one broke at the hinge after about a year not sure why it broke as I treated it very well. Second one the left ear's ANR stopped working again after a year. The one I currently have...

Agreed. Wrote them both on thursday and while I had an E6B with me it wasn't needed. Can't hurt to have one there though, just in case.

Re: IATRA/ATPL question....a new one I think.

The way I read it that if you've written the ATPL's you're good to go under (B). Doesn't say there that you need to have all the requirements just have them written within the last 24 months. (C) says if you have the ATPL license you're also good to go. So I think it means if you don't have the A's ...

I'm not talking something that has taken place over the past few months...this is history...years! I'll admit that I haven't been in the industry for all that long, but from my understanding we have many more years like the one we're having now compared to years like last year. Therefore, I have to...

Re: BOND QUESTION

If there really all these pilots screwing over companies, where the hell are they all going? Doesn't seem like anyones hiring. If they're lucky enough to pick up a job why would they leave after training? It would have to be a very shitty company in this climate to have to require a bond IMHO.

1. the Sim is SIM time not dual or PIC, log it only under the sim in both books leave everthing else blank. The Flight Training devise is the name it is certified under, check the Sim's certificate. Just to add to that. When you add up your total time, SIM time it is not added to total time. ie. If...
