Re: FAA ATP conversion test prep
Just an update, I finished the course and passed the test first time.
The course was exactly what I needed and saved me lots of time.
Well worth the price and was a very good prep for the questions on the conversion exam.

Re: Converting FAA ATP to Candian ATPL
I am taking the online copy from Harv’s Air and it seems good. I will let you know in a few weeks after I write the test how good the program was. The conversion process is straightforward for FAA license holders. On the harv’s air web site it explains the process step by step and is exactly what TC...

I am currently doing that same online course for FAA to TC ATPL.Tertius wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2019 5:20 amHi there, I just completed it and passed first time. I used www.pilottraining.ca and they have a dedicated course for FAA to TC
How close was the practice test to the actual TC test?
Any tips and advice would be appreciated thanks.

If I may(speaking as a 70 yr old who has seen plenty), one item rarely mentioned in such preambles as noted by previous poster is demographics. I am from a family of six youngins, which was the norm back then but it isn’t anymore. Fast forward to 2019 and beyond the twentish commodity of agers are ...

Re: Hilton Honors Points Missing
I just checked and all of my points are there.
I made the “Diamond for Life” status last year so there was no change in status for me.
Don’t forget to sign up for the 2019 bonus program of double points and 10000 extra points for every 5 nights. The promotion goes on until May 2019.

Re: Netjets getting even better.
What’s the closest thing in YYZ? Is Airsprint ever thinking of a Toronto base? Or flying pilots to where they need to be like flexjet? Flexjet use to only have Dallas as a base then after Flight Options parent company bought them 3 years ago they opened up 80 bases which is more or less home basing...

Re: Netjets getting even better.
Here is the Flexjet pay scale for their larger equipment. Here is a little explanation of the pay scales. The G450/500 and the Global and Gulfstream 650 are annual pay for a team of 5 captains per aircraft. They set their own schedule. While the pay may seem low there is also a bonus paid up to 50% ...

Re: Netjets getting even better.
The one big caveat to working in the U.S though is health insurance - and while the net take home is significantly higher, you have a sizeable portion removed for your insurance. I lived in the states for quite a few years and had PPO insurance. It was about $60 per month. Hardly a drop compared to...

Re: Netjets getting even better.
Here are the current NetJets pay scales from their contract. You can add $25K to $30K to each of those numbers for the soft money added to their pay per year. Those numbers are for a schedule of 7 ON/ 7 Off with home bases. Increases in 401(k) match to 63% over the life of the Agreement -Creates a N...

Re: Woman brings emotional support SQUIRREL on flight.
I was on a flight in the US last month and the flight attendent told me that the flight had a record of 6 dogs on board.
I counted 4 around me but missed the little ones in the carry on bags.
The dogs were better behaved then some humans.

Re: Phenom 300 and cold we ops
So is -40c apply for enroute in flight as well? Does the aircraft have engine fuel heaters that where the excess return flow also heats the fuel in the tanks in flight as well? I could see that as a limitation otherwise. If I recall the P&W 535 doesn’t require prist. The -40c is only for Takeoffs a...

Re: Phenom 300 and cold we ops
I haven’t heard of that kind of limitation on a lead acid battery before. -10*C is a limitation for cold soaking for nicads on different types (C560, HS25, etc,) and that’s why people switch to lead acids. Is there an STC for a battery heater that can be plugged in like a tannis heater? Such a beas...

Re: Phenom 300 and cold we ops
The battery temperature chart is in the training material but is not in the AFM as a limitation. The consensus of the sim instructors is that while it is not an Embraer limitation, it might be a battery manufacturer limitation. They are looking into it for me. If someone went through the trouble of ...

Re: Phenom 300 and cold we ops
The -10c is for the Lead Acid. There are no Ni Cad batteries. If ithe exposure time of -10c is less then 12 hours you are OK If it is -10 to -15 then you have 3.5 hours before you have to take out the batteries. At -15 to -20 then you have 2.5 hours At -20 to -25 then you have 2 hours before they sh...

Re: Phenom 300 and cold we ops
No issues different then other aircraft in its category have such as taking off stock which can freeze and dumping the Lav. No APU is probably the biggest so the aircraft is cold unless you hangar it. If you are going to be doing battery only starts and the aircraft is kept out overnight if it gets ...

Do you offer home basing?
What are your bases?
Any bonuses paid?

Re: Anybody commuting to a US carrier?
You might want to contact the union and ask them or call ALPA in Canada since I did hear of some Canadian pilots living in Florida and commuting to work. I also heard of some living in Europe and commuting to Canada. It can be done. As for bases look to see where the most flights go out of Ottawa to...

Re: Anybody commuting to a US carrier?
This is great info, thanks. Health insurance is one of the big questions I have right now. So from the looks of things, the family and I will be eligible for BC MSP health care after three months. What I'm not sure about is if my company health care requires me to be a resident of the US. If I'm no...

Not too far from you just 20 minute...

Re: Anybody commuting to a US carrier?
I have been doing it for over 10 years now. Living in Canada and working in the US. I am a dual citizen. I pay all my US taxes first then get a foreign tax credit on my Canadian taxes so after putting some money into a Canadian RRSP it is not much of a tax hit. I just drive across the boarder to wor...
