Re: The Thielert DA42 Disaster.

So it is a common practise to shut down a perfectly good engine in flight just to practise? Doesnt pulling back the engine to idle simulate a dead engine? It is assymetric thrust that you really want to encounter isnt it? I was told by my instructor awhile back, that an in-flight shut down was requ...

I'd suggest doing the flight training and ground school at the same time... You might feel overwhelmed by the amount of stuff that's going to be thown at you, but as you go, it will all make sence...

Re: Gatineau Water Aerodrome

If I remember correctly, they removed their pumps and shutdown a few years ago... "Blakey" might be able to confirm that for you... Your best bet is to fly a little more to the south west (about 7-10 mins in a 180/185 from the old Gatineau seaplane base) and fuel up at Constance Lake... Try to grab ...

Underwater Escape Training if you ever get the chance to take the training do it. Everyone whom can aford a float rating or can aford to fly in a floatplane needs to take that training regardless of the cost or inconvinience.... You don't have wait for the "chance" to take the training, you owe it ...

Tell me where it says you can't  I'll give you a hint: it doesn't. And unless it is specifically prohibited by the CARs, it is therefore permitted. Seriously, if you feel you are right about this, and I'm wrong, drop a dime on Enforcement on me. you nearly killed me Gimme a break  Like ...

Get your instrument rating, and get back to me. Sure. What CAR says you cannot fly a straight-in final at an ATF/MF airport? Get back to me on that. Again, feel free to drop a dime to Enforcement on me about this. I've got my Group 1 IR Thanks  The only time (other than an emergency) is for a...

Re: Proceedures for a safe flight

Well perhaps that is nice and fun when you are out for a pleasure flight but if you are operational strait in is quicker so if it is safe, go strait in. No reason not to. WHAT???? So if "the strait in is quicker and its safe go strait in" please tell me your not doing that? There's absolutly no rea...

Re: Proceedures for a safe flight

Let's say you go to an airport near me on the weekend, oh say Arnprior, Ont and you fly overhead to join the downwind. Even money you will get a windshield full of canopies - parachuting at that airport. And many others. That's simply dangerous. And violates CAR 602.01. No CAR is violated by NOT fl...

Looking for a float job around YOW for my old man doesn't speak french so on Ontario side. There's nothing around there really.... I realy dont think it worth it... Re: Self Healing Material

If a tiny hole/crack appears in the aircraft (e.g. due to wear and tear, fatigue, a stone striking the plane etc), epoxy resin would 'bleed' from embedded vessels near the hole/crack and quickly seal it up, restoring structural integrity.
