Re: What's your $day$ rate?

I think it would depend on the type of flying, aircraft and location, but around 5-700 a day would be about right for a captain, not including meal allowances and other expenses like travel, incurred expenses etc.

Re: New Bottom Feeder's

So when times are good we are quick to chew any transgressors a new one for being self-serving. However when its time to circle the wagons it become a wagon train of one. More solid evidence that the Canadian aviation industry is mired in it's own self perpetuating mess and yes thats just an opinio...

Re: New Bottom Feeder's

Truth is, nobody really knows one's intention for picking up OT, for the most part. There are people who may claim it's beer money etc, but generally speaking we know of no one's financial situation. It would be poor form to pass judgement on someone for taking OT, pandemic or not. Was this really e...

Yeah I read this article earlier and just shook my head. No sympathy for the ones who hurt themselves with irrational thinking and action. I do sympathize with those that were hurt as a result of their actions and feel charges should be laid. I especially sympathize with the FA.

Whoops!!! My bad. I had another window open with an article about Marc Garneau so I typed his name out by accident.

Bill Morneau resigns

Just watching the news now and looks like he's stepped down. Chrystia Freeland has just been sworn in. Wonder if this will be good or bad for airlines waiting for financial aid from the government.

Haha actually I know quite a few laid off pilots who are driving trucks. Seems like a decent gig if you can manage long road trips behind the wheel of something with no autopilot

Re: Non Aviation Employers Don't Respect Pilot Experience

F4$. And others, I sympathize with your personal situations. I have been there, a couple of times. It seems to be part of an aviation career, though I don't suppose the flight colleges ever mention it. My point was that employers are generally a bit skittish about hiring someone who will walk out a...

Re: Non Aviation Employers Don't Respect Pilot Experience

You wrote that the manager didn't know what the specific responsibilities were of a pilot job, yet you claim that he would be aware of the risk that you would leave for the same flying job that laid you off? Pretty sure if you honestly told him that during the interview, he would choose not to take...

Re: Non Aviation Employers Don't Respect Pilot Experience

That article mentions the concern of recall. I think that concern was marginalized by the author. Read Flying for Dollars post. His interest in working for that employer ended instantly when he got the recall. What if it had been a few weeks later after the employer had given him a job, and he had ...

I feel you Ash. Many of us likely have been in the same boat. I have applied to many jobs from between entry and mid-level, to more technical jobs. Not a single call back. I was wondering the same thing as you, why nobody wanted to snap up someone who's been in charge of a multimillion dollar, mid s...

Re: Driving a nicer car than your boss....

I don't think it should matter what you choose to buy nor should it matter what others think of it. I bought an exotic last fall because like you, I'm a car guy. I didn't think twice about what others thought, even though most dig it. I've taken it to work a few times but typically save driving it f...

Lots of airplanes parked these days, probably some good deals available for a well capitalized and experienced Boeing operator. There are some interesting marketing opportunities today, already that website emphasizes the 'not a max' aspect. Going forward, existing operators have left a terrible ba...

What are some annoying things about your job? Having to keep track of my pay credits. Sometimes crew sked/ops misses things and it adds up if I'm not paying attention How does your career trajectory look? Before, it was great. I didn't think he was wrong, but if you're going to say he has no idea, then maybe explain?

Otherwise we can all sit here and just say "nah, you're wrong" without any merit in the statement.
