Re: 704 CA or 705 FO ?
704 PIC without a doubt. At 250 MPIC, you really don't have any command experience. Most of us that have it can attest to how much the experience does for you not just on the resume, but as a professional aviator. You really learn a lot about yourself as others mentioned, not to mention strengthenin...

https://globalnews.ca/news/10382735/flair-airlines-booking-system-down/ "The latest hiccups come as Flair faces financial hurdles. The company owes $67.2 million to the federal government in unpaid taxes, but says it has a deal to pay the amount back to the Canada Revenue Agency." The latest post f...

Re: Considering jumping ship
I don't have any skin in the game but I'd say with YVR base opening in October, unless you flow to AC and that is your career goal, make the move. You'll significantly improve your QoL including pay. Even if your goal is AC, still go to Porter. You may find a permanent home there (assuming they succ...

Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt
Strange, flair fo's make more than AC for several years...... I blame all the lead poisoning, the tall blade of grass gets cut first What good is that when you miss the boat on housing and living life? Skip enjoying your 30's in the hopes that your health and happiness are there at 40 when you can ...

Re: Why everyone runs to AC?
Not able to wrap my head around looking for an answer. I've seen people getting pull towards AC like super magnets. I would agree if you with some random airlines but WESTJET mainline to AC. JUST CAN'T UNDERSTAND. Grabbing the best seniority number you can while hedging your bets that the gr...

Re: ACA starting position
I hope you put all this info in your survey. The union is more than aware and the comparators have already been put in the negotiating committee's hands. Don't rely on the union or they read this site It takes many pilots notifying the MEC of what to settle for If you want these conditions then ema...

Re: ACA starting position
So at least 2 yrs. Some on the union never had this probationary release interview! Quite the dog and pony show. No. It was 15 months for me and the probation release was not an interview at all. It was a very civilized chat with a manager who made sure I knew where to find resources and who to tal...

Lynx posted an internal memo saying it's just speculation but I wouldn't be surprised if it still happens.

Re: ACA starting position
What's the current probation period at AC? 1 year starting from when you're line checked. Don't forget you have to interview with your managers to get off it as well. So at least 2 yrs. Some on the union never had this probationary release interview! Quite the dog and pony show. No. It was 15 month...

There's some truth to this... though I'm not so sure about the AC part. https://www.theairlineobserver.com/p/a-canadian-airline-merger-is-in-the For those of us that aren't subscribed, here's the body of the link posted (copied from the Flair forum): Dear readers, Two small Canadian ultra-low-cost ...

Re: 3 New E2 Crew Bases. Get your resumes out!
Don't think it's a smart idea to post internal company communications on a forum. Common man. Considering Porter will need pilots for the foreseeable future, it's probably good press and a relevant memo to publicly publish before it goes public. On another note, this is great news. I suspect a stac...

Re: How long until you hear back from AC?
Training is at max capacity. I get displaced once every pairing because of training (which I'm more than ok with :D). The 'rumblings' of dropping the ATPL requirement are just that. A lot of people say they can see it, I personally don't. Given the problems in additional training requirements and u...

Re: Ready To Strike
We only get strike pay if we're on strike for more than 14 days. For the first 14 days, we get nothing. I'm ready either way. Just know for budgeting purposes that if we're on strike for less than 2 weeks, it will be entirely without income. Profit Sharing should be arriving in April. Anyone with a...

Re: Emirates or Air Canada
As an expat kid myself, I always dreamed of working for Emirates. My career path has been interesting and the timing simply never worked out for me. When I interviewed at Qatar, I got my first jet command at Flair, when I got the interview with Etihad, I got hired at AC. I also have an interview req...
