It was to the east of Invermere so no where near Kootenay Lake. i figure he was following the Kootenay river valley or there abouts from Cranbrook headed for Springbank. It was dark down in the valley as I was called with my fire dept to the airport to prepare for the landing. Fairmont has lights bu...

Why cant we agree that the temperature is increasing and there are major changes happening? At this point we dont know for sure what is causing the changes so why not move toward alternative energy until we know for sure. That saves the oil we have for future generations. If, as it was stated earlie...

that is outrageous but I also think the days of CPL, multi, and instructor for $26000 as was posted are over as well. As for how many are still in aviation from those programs I agree that it is a small number. I spent a number of years at western and only a small percentage made it all the way thru...

I also heard the Pakistani pres on tv last night and could not believe his comments. To say that the resources of more countries could not benefit the search for bin laden and taliban etc is in my mind ludacris. I have also seen the interviews of the afghan pres and was pretty impressed. Sure some o...

F14's being retired

According to CNN today the Tomcat is being retired and the F-18 is going to be the only carrier based fighter in the US. Anyone want to hazard a guess at the price on Ebay??

172RG gear problem on CNN

Anyone else catch the coverage on CNN yesterday of a 172 RG who "attempted a hard landing" and bent the right mains, continued to go around and circle the airport. It was in Florida and showed live. The news people didnt have a clue saying it "appears to be a small plane" duh but they did get the Ki...

I find it amusing that some of the same people who cry foul about the pilots who whore themselves and put up working for companies who push them to do unsafe things are saying in this thread that its ok to take off with frost or ice on the wings. To be fair there probably are situation and aircraft ...

As I read the post by the guy with a lot of vowels in his name...I was able to figure what he thought people could do even if they dont themselves go to Africa. He said very clearly that raising awareness and generating discussion is as important. Secondly, I cannot connect your comments here to the...

Cat you said that the root of the problems are over population from a lack of education and poverty. Do you not think educating africans with basic skills, reading, writing, math, how to farm or to do something that helps them feed their families and become self sufficient, is worthwhile? I know the...

Cat - I agree that not all countries should be exactly like Canada. We are wasteful with our resources and not as great a role model as we could be. What I do believe is that all people should have the freedoms to decide their countries fate as we have. I also agree that our native reserves are an i...

I agree that there is corruption and the money doesnt end up where it should but shouldnt we try to change that - put people in place to disperse the funds and watch where it is used instead of handing over a cheque and walking away? Are you saying that because there is corruption and deep rooted pr...

I have to agree with Hedley about Harper. He does seem to be doing some good things and watching him speak after the shooting in Montreal it was obvious to me he wasn't reading a script but speaking on his own from his true feelings. He can still screw it up but so far so good in my opinion.

Its partly the MNR's fault for selecting so many students. I know from the interview process in BC they like students because they dont mind getting laid off in the fall and there is a decent chance they'll be around for a few seasons. However that policy is biting them in the ass now and people lik...

It is brutal what some people will do. Also brutal that the media will show the injured being loaded into ambulances before family can be notified. Some stories can wait a few minutes and some discretion would be nice.
